Annalisa | 1573 comments I'll see if I can find anything better. Hopefully, the librarian can help because I can really think of any books I haven't read that have a siege.

It's just as good as the 1st one!

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I'm halfway thru my snake book & the baseball bat book is short so should finish both by tonight. Please put me down for this task next:

Book 7 4.2 Read a book where a long lost sibling is discovered

I'll read Red-Headed Stepchild - read that she finds out she has a twin in the book. I don't believe she meets her but does "discover" the existence of her.

Absolutely for the MPG Humour book - it's a good one, too :-)

Not so sure about that cover though. I cannot define that colour, but I don't think pink when I see it :-/

You're slotted in for the sibling task!

message 1707: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I didn't have much luck finding a book with a siege. Maybe we will come across something when we are reading. I'm hoping so anyway.

message 1708: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Aug 03, 2018 06:33PM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Has anyone read Joe Abercrombie? I have all his books so if there's a book where you know there is mention of a siege, I can read it. Aside from the Shattered Seas trilogy (there was a siege!), I haven't read any of his works yet so maybe one can work for that task?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'm reading an epic fantasy now, not sure if there will be a siege though. I highly doubt it actually as the MC finds herself left with a few retinue of soldiers.

message 1710: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Do you remember if it was in the first book or later in the series?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments 2nd and last book for sure. Lemme recall what happened in the first book. But it's a really good series!!!

message 1712: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Mmhh, I think this might be one of those things that'll be easier to find by just reading. High/Epic fantasy is definitely a good place to start hehe. Anywhere where there are battles about territory and wars between factions being fought.

message 1713: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments If anyone is reading/plans to read A Reaper at the Gates, that would work for under siege.

Or maybe old historical ones, like The Last Kingdom. The Danes invasion would probably qualify.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I have siege book (The White Queen by Gregory) but there is nio way I'll read it before quidditch starts. First book was very very very slow read for me

Or I could attack HP&DH (😉) if nobody comes with other option

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Annalisa, everything about the series is mixed up in my head now so I can't be sure if what I remember happens in the 1st or 2nd book. But it's definitely a good series to add to your TBR ;)

message 1716: by Em (last edited Aug 04, 2018 12:56AM) (new)

Em (emmolga) i'll be on the lookout for a siege book as well. i'm quite sure i have one on my queue already...

but meanwhile, this Maintenance Of Headway by Magnus Mills should fit for bus cover, right?

message 1717: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Yep!

I can spot a few buses on that one :-)

message 1718: by Em (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments Ok i need to catch up with my read books sorry E x What do you need?

I'm reading Red Hill which is a Zombie book if that is any help?

message 1721: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Anything finished before 31st July needs letters for characters in the books so we can use them for the spell-out.

Everything on or after 31st July can be used for spell-outs or tasks.

Zombie... maybe? Maybe something that happens in the book can be used for one of the tasks. Just browse through and see where it might fit :-) Otherwise, spell-outs!

We need a lot of Us.

Hmm, considering that Devann picked up a book specifically for the Maze task and is likely to be done soon, we'll just use your book for our tasks :-)

I think this will count as "siege" plus it has an "U"

From the blurb, I'm not so sure there will be a siege. But we can always see later once you're done.

The U would come in handy as well if the book doesn't work for one of the tasks!

(It's either one or the other, we can't use the book for both.)

V Nerd, can I get some details about your siege situation in Red Hill, please? Zombies are surrounding the house multiple people are staying in?

Just wanted to make sure it works before I'm throwing it into the spreadsheet :-)

Thanks!

message 1747: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments Yes thats exactly right, they are trapped in a building with Zombies surrounding them and they have to try and escape somehow

message 1748: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments But that is in a different part, they all eventually end up staying in one house in the middle of nowhere, but the siege part is when they are trying to get out of the city x

message 1749: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Aug 05, 2018 05:00AM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Im reading Kiss of Snow and it just occured to me that it could work for siege. Siege doesnt have to mean a castle being surrounded, right?. It could also mean a serious attack that lasts for some time. The shapeshifters have been under persistent attack from the Psy for a while now. Since I can't remember which book, the villains have been constantly attacking the Dens, trying to weaken them so they can swoop in. Thoughts? Or do we stick with age old definition of castle under attack?

Edit: Sorry didnt refresh my browser, just read your comment E! Ignore this post haha

message 1750: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments I hadn't even thought of a castle lol, i just thought it was being surrounded and trying to get in
