Today was actually first game I had 'watched'. TV was on with sound off. I was reading and when everyone started yelling I'd check what's going on :P

I was rooting for Croatia too! Since the game where they played Denmark. I yelled so loud when they got their first goal today that I scared my cat. I was hoping for a Belgium/Croatia match but now I'm full on Croatia all the way.

Hahah, Stacie, that's great!! I was hoping for the same combination for the final but oh well. My cat has been staring at me with a "wtf is going on?!" expression more than once during this world cup though I haven't watched all of the games. Or often just the first half and then switched, or going back and forth between watching a series and going to the game whenever a commercial break came on.

The yelling helps to keep on track when you aren't really paying attention to what's going on on-screen haha.
There was a very loud group not far from my place watching the France/Belgium game on Tuesday and for the second half, I kept my nose in my book and just looked up when I heard them yelling haha.

That went incredibly fast all of a sudden and we didn't even use all the books we've read so far!!

Now keep your fingers crossed that the remaining books, or at least some of them, can be used for whatever the mods have brewed for Tri-Wizard! :-D

Any laaaaarge books for astronomy are still welcome to replace the page counts we have at the moment. Em's book will replace our current lowest page count and the other pages are fairly good, so if nobody finds something gigantic, no worries!

The only spot that is still open is one more book for Care of Magical Creatures. Natasha wanted to hunt for a possible horse book for that one - did you find something at the library?? :-)

What we absolutely need still: a name for our fabulous magical creature.
It currently has a cougar head with big sharp teeth, a dragon body, the fabulous wings of a firebird and deer antlers. Horse mane&tail to follow - unless we change that.
Also, it loves delicacies, preferably of the sweet variation, has crazy mind powers and is ever so slightly dangerous to the untrained wizard.

Any ideas?

I have a book with a horse on the cover but dress from rider covers the tail. I am not sure when I will get to it though. I'm guessing we don't have a horse on any of the books that have been read.

It isn't always easy of course if you are running a little late and people disappear from the thread after finishing their book, but in essence, yes, you should interact with others and have more than just the one post.

Lions tail - yes, I could see that working. Fits with the cougar head, something catlike.

I guess some captains just don't check or let that slide to get extra points then. Because if everyone has already finished & you comment but no one discusses with you (& you don't comment back), I don't think that would actually qualify as a "Buddy Read" so it shouldn't qualify for the extra points. Mmh, I agree, it shouldn't. Of course, sometimes you have to wait a little until someone pops back, or another straggler comes along to comment, but technically it shouldn't count. There's still a bit of time before the end of the challenge so maybe more comments will come, but.. meh

Just as a little FYI for you guys:

Captains have been asked to have all their spreadsheets up to date by the end of this weekend so they can even out the teams before the Tri-Wizard Tournament starts. So it won't be until Monday at the earliest, it seems.
