How (Not) to Date a Prince by Zoe May .

Could the cover be used for sth?

that one for sure looks brown, but don't feel you have to read for that task! there are plenty more we need to cover :)

for "sth" ??? I'm struggling!

Looks chick-lit / fluffy to me, so herbology seems to be a good fit, unless you had something else in mind?

message 305: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8288 comments It is OK.
This is the year of the Great Re-Reading for me, and I last read this during university (long time ago :).

I like it, yep! let's keep eyes open for a possible transfig pairing :)

message 307: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Cat -- Sounds good! I haven't added them yet, but will do so today or tomorrow to make sure they're on the sheet for the mods when they do their # crunching. :)

I used to try to do the SRC, but I could never finish since I didn't want to complete at least a few of the tasks each season. It's fun to try to fit in your books to the tasks, though.

@Melinda... Is Little Woodford chick lit, maybe?

message 309: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8288 comments We-ell, it skirts around it, but not really. There is no 1 MC, but quite a few (both younger and older) and romance is rather understated. It's more about goings-on in a village.

Done! After some mental wrangling over who to pick for #3
It's intriguing to see everyone's reasons :)

message 314: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
And it's so hard to only pick 3 once you start thinking about it!

Curiously enough though, while I like Hermione, I wouldn't pick any of the friend trio as my faves. Not even Hagrid, even though I really like him.

message 315: by Emelie (new)

Emelie | 415 comments I agree, really fun to see everyone's reasoning behind their choices!

It was so hard trying to pick just the 3 and why. I love so many of them for various reasons, and I just love meta-talk about the characters in general, haha. I really appreciate Rowling's write in that way, they all feel so human and realistic with their flaws and that most of them really are just grey instead of obviously white or black in their morale and actions and thoughts.

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Hello! I just received notice that I am part of the team :-)
My shelf: towerteam6
I will try to do a real introduction later today (it is almost 2 am here and I need to go to bed. It is going to be a big day as my son is graduating from high school this evening)
I have about 19 books on the shelf from May 12-now since it said I could count books from the start of the challenge. Hopefully they will be useful for the different spells and such.

Hi Amy!
Welcome to the small but perfectly formed Team Cedric!
Have a great day today :)

I’m excited by 19 books to play with, but sadly I’m on holiday and without decent internet until Monday. We’ve got a team tracker sheet (links in one of my posts on the 1st page) which tells us what books we’ve got going on and which books can go in tasks etc.

Our position; I’ve been focusing on getting colour covers sorted (potions) and other classes over the spells. We have completed all three unforgivable curses, so next is the uncommon two.

But, have a read & come back with questions / suggestions for your books, and the team will help :)

message 322: by Emelie (new)

Emelie | 415 comments Welcome, Amy; so glad to have you. We're an amazing team!

19 books, woh! Cat has quite the load to shift through then. :)

And congrats so much to your son - that's such a huge event! Hope you have a wonderful day and evening!

Oooh! Oooh!

Driver's Ed by Caroline B. Cooney turquoise?
The Magic of Oz (Oz, #13) by L. Frank Baum yellow? Orange?
The Crimson Fairy Book by Andrew Lang red?

message 324: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 2131 comments Yes looks turquoise to me! The last one seems more pink than red though, and I can't decide without mad TinEye if the middle is more yellow or orange, seems half each.

message 325: by Emelie (new)

Emelie | 415 comments I agree with Sarah.

The first one seems dominantly turquoise.

Second is half half of yellow and orange.

The third is more pink than red.

message 326: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Hi Amy! Welcome to Team Cedric! Hope you're having a wonderful time at your son's graduation and congratulations!

I'm hoping to update the official team sheet Monday evening. Have a great vacation, Cat!

Turquoise - Yes!
Yellow - I'd call the second one yellow with the middle being more of a golden yellow than orange.
Red - No, pink.

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Who are you? Amy Clark
Where are you? Racine, Ohio, USA
What do you read? A little bit of almost everything. I like mysteries and thrillers, but will read whatever strikes my fancy at the time.

Are you really a Hufflepuff?! no. According to Pottermore I am a Gryffindor, but I think I am probably a Ravenclaw. I guess I'm a bit of everything (except Slytherin... the snakes are scary)
Badgers - awesome or magnificent? I know some pretty awesome badgers
Can you conjure a patronus? what is it? of course! It is a falcon (was hoping for a bat though)

I read that one my first time through college... 20+ years ago. Maybe I should pick it up again for a refresher. I thought it was pretty good at the time.

Is your Post 90 in the completed books thread a new book? It confused me last night so I didn't add anything. Thanks!

Now I am confused, for on the team tracker I indicated that I am involved in the buddy read and I already added the link to my first comment as well.
???

My tablet does not take kindly to excel tables, so I can only check tomorrow when I switch on my computer.

No, don’t worry, I found it on the sheet.

It’s been a mad couple of days. I was on holiday with my mum, who lives on the Isle of Man, and my sister &her two kids.
It’s practice week for the TT races, which means road closures from 6pm which traps us in (or out)of the house.
My sister was supposed to be flying home on weds, but they cancelled the flight (engine issues), so at 5pm my mum had to dash out to get her &the kids from the airport, to get them back before 6 and then she & I were going out again.
She made it, but by the skin of her teeth!
So that was my quiet Thursday blown!
Then my flight was cancelled, yesterday, after 6pm, so I had to get a taxi to the escape route for my mums house- a narrow, stony, wobbly path!

But we all eventually got home today, though my brain remains a bit scrambled.

What an adventure! Glad you got home in the end and that everything went well in the end.
