Melindam | 8289 comments I will read 3 Perry Mason books by Erle Stanley Gardner. Those will work for

2) MPG crime (OotP 2.2)
3) Someone goes on trial (OotP 2.3)

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments I will finish CoS 4.2 "Ghost" in title today and start on CoS 2.2 2 books with similar covers.
I'm also going to try to squeeze in a couple BOMs this month.

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 115 comments I think I read somewhere that Box Sets don't count, but can we read anthologies for these challenges? Just wondering.

message 957: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments Is anyone reading a book for a P and a J in the title? If not I have one I can start ;)

Go for it. If that task gets filled, the book can always be used elsewhere.

I think that is right. I know we used a 3-in-1 that I read for one of the classes.

The rule: Anything with the word" boxed set" in the title on Goodreads can not be used as "one book". They need to be shelved as separate books to count for this challenge

So, if you read His Dark Materials box set you would have to shelve each individual book. A box set without individual books isn’t allowed

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 5922 comments I am currently about to start New York 2140

it is a big book but someone has a reservation on it at the library so I must read it.
Nothing obvious in tri wizards
Has MPG of dystopian / science fiction if that comes up in Maze but won't be a quick read

has an odd number of pages

I have had to give up on it Roseena - it feels like the first half of the novel is missing the characters are one-dimensional and the narrative so boring I am finding it hard to stay awake

@Sarah & Katie - no need to report your "used for Quidditch" books to the thread - I'll snag them from your shelves.

Can you report on ones that were unused though - which have you finished already & which are still in progress? If you confirm completed already (and shelve them!) I'll take from the shelf too today. After today, proper report on the Cedric completed thread please!

Katie Tied
Katie Awakened from ice
Katie Wild Hunger
Katie Change on the Fly

Sarah Long Way to Small Angry Planet
Sarah Knight of the Sword
Sarah Jane: A Fierce Heart

message 972: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 2131 comments I haven't finished small angry planet - I will at some point and take it slowly to enjoy it. I got to about half way with that one.

It's unlikely I'll finish the knight book as it was dire, I hadn't got very far, and already deleted from KU for further quidditch reading so I don't even know where I was up to.

I finished Jane this morning but haven't marked it read yet. I'll do a proper completion later - there is a U character.

message 973: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 2131 comments Hope your son is feeling better soon, Melinda. Thinking of you.

message 974: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Oh no, Melinda! That's always scary. I hope he's feeling better soon!

message 975: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments I'm finished with Awakened from Ice and Change on the Fly. Tied and Wild Hunger are both half finished...something I hope to remedy today/tomorrow. I'll get the other 2 shelved, though. Thanks Cat. I'm also working on getting some other books reported in the completed thread. :)

message 976: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Do you think "escape from prison" is only for an escape from a modern standard prison? Or could it mean a room holding someone who hasn't been tried, but has been imprisoned all the same? Like a kidnapping?

Katie, for the "in a siege" book - are the characters actually in a siege / trapped at all? just being in a war isn't enough :(

ETA - is there a large battle??

Feral Chickens A Hawaiian Comedy by C. McGee - do you guys think this would work for "something broken on the cover" ? - the torn & broken "wrapping paper" pattern that the naughty chicken has presumably pecked

i think it might

Katie | 1634 comments Omar is trapped in burning buildings, helping to extract other people while being pinned down by archers.

If that won't work, I can list character letters later today.

Or big battle?

I'm not entirely sure about the siege... it's tricky!

(big battle will at least finish a set of four off for us immediately)

message 987: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Yes, there's a big battle. Sorry I didn't see that in the previous message.

I probably added it after you saw!

I'm going to put it in there then :)

Also filled in some more characters, using books that didn't fit any of our outstanding tasks - including Cedric!

message 989: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Yay Cedric!

I'm just going to finish up those 2 leftover books from Quidditch, then I'll focus on the TWT. :)

I'm currently reading a book with a sword on the cover and a book with a deadly weapon on the cover ( Grey Sister (Book of the Ancestor, #2) by Mark Lawrence & Zombie Rules (Zombie Rules #1) by David Achord )

I can also cover the book with MC musician and book with club-esque object on cover. which covers my reading through the weekend I think.

message 992: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments Grey Sister was great, I hope you like it, Cat!

I'm reading Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut - night in the title (also sorta purple cover?) and Lair of Dreams - blind character (maybe more, not sure yet). I have books for Music MPG, prophesy and white cover but haven't started them yet.

I've moved Seraphina to purple cover, to put one of my not-used-for-quidditch books into dragon on cover, so that's been filled :)

I am enjoying Grey Sister, yes! I loved Nona & Red Sister, and the introduction of Keot is fascinating....

message 994: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 2131 comments I have The Lost Symbol on hold at the library - I should get it before TT finishes. I don't mind if someone else reads for "Lost" in title though.

message 995: by Amy the book-bat (new)

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist white enough for white cover? I have it coming up. Also have some cat on the cover books coming up as well as witch in the title. I'm also planning to read Everland for BOM and I think that will work for the fairy/pixie task.
