Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments if we still need it when I finish my moon book, I can do the balloon one. I saw one today that looks interesting.

I've got a balloon in reserve too.

Though we can start looking at the wider tasks too - I'll be putting Four Blind Mice into "green cover" (I know there's a task, not found it yet though...)

It's taken me all morning to get to a place where I can think about Katie's broken kindle without utter sadness! The loss of use of a kindle is a sad sad thing :(

Get well soon Katie & Katie's kindle!

hopefully you can access your content via the kindle app on some device or other? it's a subpar experience, but better than no books!

@Melinda - when you've a moment, check out the Quidditch Match 3 thread over https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... ? :)

Just five books left to be finished with the core tasks and then we can be off to read any tasks we like*!!!

*well, provided we finish sets - no points if we don't complete a task set :(

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Katie's Kindle and my headphones... bad week for electronics... luckily there are options out there!

Oh no Amy! That’s not good either!

I hope everyone else’s tech stays well!

message 910: by Amy the book-bat (new)

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments New headphones should be here on Friday. I can listen one-eared until then... LOL
Thursday will be a good day for reading since I will be having a "fine needle aspiration" done on my thyroid. Basically, they will stick needles in my neck and draw fluid. I've had it done once before, but I'm not allowed to do much for the 24 hours after, so sitting quietly and reading/listening will be perfect.

SS 4.1 Read a book with a predominately green cover

Actually, Sorcerer's Stone set 4 doesn't look too bad (except maybe the last task, which I am searching now)
Task 4 - Escape Devil’s Snare

Read a book with a predominately green cover
Read a book with “Devil” in the title
Read a book where the title starts with S
Read a book tagged at least 10 times as “relax” or “calm” (variations are allowed)

message 912: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8289 comments It would be helpful to know what counts as "multiple" in multiple characters die. Is 3 enough? :)

message 913: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
@Amy, we can add up similar tags (eg relax +calm) & can use synonyms too (eg chill / pleasure)
Mods are being kind on this one!

@Melinda, I don't think anyone has checked that, but I'd say min 3,more better!

message 914: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8289 comments OK, I'll see if I can find a detective book with 3 or more, but if needed, I could take another book with a "U" character.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman. Character Una

Feel free to pick from any of the TriWiz tasks you fancy, not just those in the books we've started!

Or, over in the Maze we are looking for a. Memoir MPG starting with A-M

Quick check in before I get sucked into Quidditch...

Are we all present & correct & reading happily?

How are we getting on with the outstanding TriWiz tasks? which are....
- moon on cover
- balloon on cover
- dragon in title
- a fave romantic couple in book
???

On the character side of the game: we need one U to complete the major characters, and then I'll just be slotting in books we can't use for TriWiz - focus is on those tasks now, as being better for points!

Maze is going swimmingly (watch me have jinxed it now - sorry!) - currently looking for a paranormal MPG with title starting N-Z

How is everyone's tech? Amy, hope the big needle thing goes well today!

TriWiz...

speaking of filling tasks, we've a couple of books without a TriWiz task - any thoughts welcome!

Tricia, just wait till Quidditch kicks off - that's proper mental!

Speaking of... would any of you be able to help out as announcer? not as the sole one, but some support for the team would be fab. Monitoring threads & posting the moves in the match thread...
Elena? Emelie? Katie? (or Katie, would you be able to do some beatering??)

Katie | 1634 comments Hey guys!

I'm feeling much better and have a working kindle in hand!

*I will check Ravensong to try to fit it anywhere into TWT. I just checked our main tasks last time.

*I can do some beatering (it starts tomorrow, right?), but will have to be subbed for on the weekend. Unless you want me to be a reserve, which I can do.

*Alternatively, I can also help out with announcing, but it would be rather hit or miss since I pop on when I can, but am often gone for large periods watching the kids.

Now I'll just start filling in TWT if I can. :)

message 930: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
Katie, that's so good! happy days! :)

having you as a general reserve would be ace! I've twisted Sarah's arm into covering for me on Saturday, and Karishma is being the other beater, so I think the main pain is covered, though it'd be good to have someone else able to spell Danielle (also arm-twisted) as chaser.

announcer I've basically given up on! noone wants to do it, so I think we'll have to declare that players will also be announcing, and see how we cope from there.

I WILL ask you to take the lead on keeping general spreadsheet / tasks up to date during Quidditch though - I'm not going to be able to cover that too without making mistakes! :-/

message 931: by Katie (last edited Aug 09, 2018 08:51AM) (new)

Katie | 1634 comments You said we need one U to finish up the MCs, then I should just slot stuff in where it fits? Can do.

Yup! Prioritising TWT over characters.

message 933: by Emelie (new)

Emelie | 415 comments Oh, I wish I could help you out, Cat! Especially since my reading has slowed down even more. I don't think I could keep up with the quick speed of Quidditch - my brain is a mushy, slow, sleepy thing - as it seems important to post quick and be really attentive as an announcer too!

Quidditch has started, which will see Katie & I both going a bit insane with trying to keep up with that! It might mean that updating with TriWiz progress will get a little sporadic, but we will get on it when Quidditch is over.
For the meantime - keeping reading for tasks, for maze and for fun! And if you wa want to cheer on the Hufflepuff team, that'd be great - in the Burrow or on the game thread :)

message 939: by Cat (last edited Aug 11, 2018 02:09AM) (new)

Page points only , yes, but they can’t be used for tasks or chars.

I’m not monitoring the maze threads at the moment (quidditch!), so if you could post a completion as normal (or put a link to the maze completion post) that will let Katie & I know to add maze books to our sheet :)
