Sarah | 2131 comments Cat, I should only have 20 BOM points for Children of Blood and Bone, not 60. I suspect the spreadsheet is set up to add points if there is any text in the DQ cell, and so a '-' will still trigger the extra 40.

I enjoyed it - its not a play that i am familiar with and it is good that there is a synopsis of the original at the beginning. The reviews are sort of 50/50 love hate. Hag seed and my name is Shylock are on my SRC. There are a lot of retelling tasks and shakespeare this season

Heads up that I've completed the Levitation charm:

A Goose Girl A Retelling of The Goose Girl (Entwined Tales Book 1) by K.M. Shea & Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1) by Tomi Adeyemi

Katie | 1634 comments I'm trying desperately to get through an anthology that I thought would be pretty good. It has a lot of authors that I've enjoyed in the past, but I keep falling asleep as soon as I pick it up. I think I just hate anthologies no matter what authors it has.

Anybody remember what I can claim with anthologies?

message 561: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments I'm sorry you're having tough time with it, Katie! If I remember right we used editor's initials instead of authors' for anthologies in previous challenges. Didn't find any mention of it for this one though.

I got The Dry - library had a hard copy available. Will probably start on Monday, trying to finish current books first.

Katie | 1634 comments Ah, I remember something like that as well. I'll go with that and MCs. Thanks Elena! :)

Karla I'm finishing up a book I started before I got a spot on a team and now I don't know what to read. I'm heading to the library tomorrow, so what should I look for that would best help us?

I think we still need books with "celestial bodies' in the title (sun, moon, planet, etc), preferably with high page counts for astronomy

We always need titles/authors/etc. with vowels for the spell-outs

Not sure what else specifically. Pretty much anything you read can probably be used somewhere.

Thank you, I'll see if I can find anything to fit the celestial body task.

For those interested in how the spell-out is going... we're doing well!
I've started putting vowels in now, so we only need 1 E, 5 U & 5 A, but a LOT of O and I now! (10 of each)

Full run down of letters needed:

Letter	Total	Filled	Remaining
I 17 7 10
O 18 8 10
L 8 2 6
R 16 10 6
T 12 6 6
A 18 13 5
N 7 2 5
S 12 7 5
U 14 9 5
D 7 3 4
M 11 7 4
P 9 5 4
F 3 1 2
C 9 7 2
V 4 2 2
B 1 0 1
E 15 14 1
G 2 1 1
H 1 0 1
K 2 1 1
W 1 0 1
Y 1 0 1
TOTAL 191 108 83

Karla I started My Demon's Name Is Ed by Danah Khalil , I thought we could use it for describing our monster because of the red eyes.

message 576: by Emelie (new)

Emelie | 415 comments Cat, I think you should check if you've already used my bok Fallet Samir for a spelling - I see that you've reserved it for a class. But I think I have an inkling of a memory that you used the author for a spell. So we don't get a penalty. :)

Just doing some shelf housekeeping and I noticed the following:

Katie - I think you have three to report from yesterday? pop them straight on the sheet, but let us know if there are O or I in them we can use?

Karla - I think you have one to report from yesterday?

Marie - you have The One on your shelf, read 13 May, but it looks like it was started before 12 May? Can you check & confirm & post or remove from the shelf please?

Thanks!

Amy, so we can validly claim your BR points for Catch of the Day, can you go back and interact with the other readers, now they've started / finished too :)

The guidance is for interaction and conversation, with a rule of thumb of 4 posts, responding to others

thanks!

Melindam | 8289 comments I will read Evil Under the Sun now. It could be used either for astronomy or for spells.

I am also planning to read Royal Airs

Royal Airs (Elemental Blessings, #2) by Sharon Shinn .

I am not sure how obvious it is that the girl on the cover is in the air, but maybe either cover or title could be used for levitation charm?

If we pair it with book Unquiet Land

Unquiet Land (Elemental Blessings, #4) by Sharon Shinn , "from land to air", would it work?

message 594: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8289 comments Maybe Jeweled Fire (Elemental Blessings, #3) by Sharon Shinn could be used for DADA?

message 595: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
Jewelled Fire can definitely be used for DADA!

We've got books in for the levitation charm, but we could move them elsewhere very easily - there's a I character in one that I'd be happy to snag

If you are going to read them all, we can definitely use them all!

I'm all of a trauma today.

My phone decided to brick itself yesterday evening :(

I'd hoped it would be a passing fancy, and that it'd be resolved with a hard reboot. Sadly, it's a permanent transfiguration, so I am bereft of phone :(

Which means bereft of on-the-go GR checks, and of my audio book :(

woe is me!

I've bought a new one, which will arrive Monday, I hope. but that's still days & days & eons away!
It's amazing how much I like having the tech to hand, and how much of my time is spent using it.
on the plus side - a forced detox isn't all bad, I guess

message 598: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1634 comments Oh no! I hate it when that happens. Hopefully you're getting a new and exciting phone!
