Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Tower Teams VI

Team Newt Scamander
If there are any worries about Sassafrass’s battle book being suitable, I will finish a book today that has a number of big battles in it.
Does this count as a cottage? Check out The Shack by William Paul Young
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I found this definition of a cottage and going by that your cover fits as a run down abandoned version. I’m sure it would have been cozy in its prime :)A cottage is, typically, a small house. It may carry the connotation of being an old or old-fashioned building. In modern usage, a cottage is usually a modest, often cozy dwelling, typically in a rural or semi-rural location.

I would say no - a shack is "a roughly built hut or cabin", not the same as Emma's definition of being cozy
Wow Emma - I'm logging in our books right now and just noticed your book was 1,009 pages -- great job!!!!
SandyL wrote: "Wow Emma - I'm logging in our books right now and just noticed your book was 1,009 pages -- great job!!!!"Longest book I’ve read in a while but thankfully also one of the best books I’ve read so it was an enjoyable 1009pages. :)

It’s a great series.
I'm claiming the prophecy book and finally getting around to reading Blade Bound since it's got a central prophecy that I just found out will be the backdrop for a spin off series! SQUEE!

I need to check on that.
Out of curiosity, if someone is only MENTIONED in a book, do they count as a character?I finished Hunting Prince Dracula and they talk about Vlad the Impaler a lot and I wanted to know if I could use him for V

No, they have to play a part in the book

Alright, thank you!
Hi Newts! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! You guys are doing a great job with the task and everything has been claimed. So we're opening up the rest of the tasks. If you've claimed a task that isn't complete yet, please try to finish that before taking on anything else - we don't get ANY points for ANY tasks if we don't finish the first one we chose.
I know it's a lot of work on your part, but when you do your completion posts, if you can list all the tasks your book works for it helps if we need to move things around. Hopefully everyone is okay with first read, first used if necessary, even if you claimed a task. If you really want a book you're reading to be used for a specific task just PM and I'll make sure to use it for that.
Here's the link to all the tasks: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Here's the link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Let me know if you have any questions.
A book I’m reading tomorrow has a snake on cover, so claimed one of that task. Book I finished today has discovers a lost sibling, (plus wolf and dragon tasks, but those are easier to find) all info in book thread and ss.
Hello team! Sorry for my absence, but I finished a book that would fit for the multiple people die task. Am I allowed to grab that task? If not, what tasks are open? Thanks!
Kristin wrote: "Hello team! Sorry for my absence, but I finished a book that would fit for the multiple people die task. Am I allowed to grab that task? If not, what tasks are open? Thanks!"Hi Kristin!
Post your completed book here - you can see the format from the other posts. Include the task(s) your book works for.
Yay! Worked that time!!!!Now questions!
Do the books have to be started on or after a certain point to count?

What does an announcer do?
Announcer will put up moves on the thread as they happen - it needs someone who can be on GR a LOT during the game (Friday am UK to 15th)
Generally, monitoring a couple of the quidditch threads in the Burrow as well as the game thread is required
Having someone do most of it is really helpful for the players, but players can and will help out if necessary.

Ha, not sure if its fun; but its this weekend I 'm taking my son up to his college to register. I've booked a hotel with a pool and we will do some shopping as well. Bittersweet!
Hoping to get some library books finished and a craft project or two done. Hoping to visit my Dad’s grave after work tomorrow. 2 years went by awful fast.
Does anyone have a Young Adult book starting with R and ending with S? If so we can make the YA square (with some books that have already been read) for GOF task 1. If no one has a book that fits, no worries, there’s a few other YA books read we can try to work from. Top: Old yelleR

Right: R . . . . S
Bottom: The sea of monsterS

Congrats to your parents. Have fun!I think we need the captains say on if articles can be ignored or not on this task?
