I usually don't mind multiple POVs but in this case I had to get use to it. I was finally getting into this story and then they changed POV (again and again). So it was a little bit frustrating.

Chapters 1-7

(view spoiler)[ Glad to get into book two. I really enjoyed the first book, and I heard this series only gets better...This one has started out a bit slower for me than City of Bones. Maybe it's because the first book introduced the world and with this one, we already know about it... I don't know what it is, but it feels slower. I don't really enjoy the abrupt point of view changes. Like right in the same chapter, without really any indication, it will just switch points of view...it's very weird. I don't really like Maryse at all, and poor Jace for everyone thinking he may be involved in everything. I'm just getting to the point where they are getting him out of prison. For being 130 some pages in, I just don't feel like a whole lot has happened compared to the first book, but I can tell it's JUST start to pick up a bit!!! I still haven't read The Infernal Devices so I don't know about that. But I don't like it if POV are changing so much in one chapter. It got better thought!

(view spoiler)[ I'm enjoying this more now that I've gotten used to the POV changes....in fact, it seems like they change POV even less now, which seems to help the flow for me. I think it's interesting that the chemistry between Jace and Clary is still there when reading...I find that incredibly entertaining! That we're supposed to believe they are brother and sister (and haven't been told otherwise), but that Cassandra Clare can put doubt in my mind with the "brother-sister theory" just in the way she writes the chemistry between them entertains me very much and shows me how much time she put into that arc. It would be so simple to write them as brother/sister moving on with their own lives, but there is obviously something else there, and *that* makes me want to keep reading this series...to find out what REALLY is going on with them. And I'm loving Magnus and Alec!!! Much better story flow happening for me now! (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-6

(view spoiler)[It was only a couple of months ago that I read City of Bones, and I forgot like half the book haha. Took me a minute to get back into this story, but I'm liking it a lot more than the first book.

So I was shipping Clary and Jace pretty hard (up until that plot twist) and I'm so not keen on her and Simon kinda being a thing. I just think Simon is a bit of a pointless character. Like he's only there for the love triangle aspect. Meh. Whatever.

I did think, however, that maybe something will develop between Simon and Maia. The scene where they met at the bar made me think maybe something will happen there but then in the next scene where they met, he was straight up referring to Clary as his girlfriend. Also, I got the impression in the first book that she didn't really like him like that so how is she now shacking up with him?!?

Like I know that it comes out they're not really related but the sexual tension between them despite them both thinking they're brother and sister is weird. And then that kiss. It's kinda weird and disgusting to want your brother to make out with you. In fact it's not even kinda, it's full on weird and disgusting. Clary, what is up with you girl?!?

One good thing to come out of this, she might break up with Simon...

(view spoiler)[ Whoa! That ending :) Glad that Simon survived, even though I'm not quite sure exactly how much his character adds right now. I do like his friendship with Clary and am glad they are going back to friends, but I find his plot just a bit boring, like he's just "kinda there." I did enjoy the ending of this book better than the first book, but I enjoyed the beginning of the first book better than this book, so for me, they balanced out and I enjoyed them about the same. I know nothing about this series, and have not looked at anything that could potentially spoil anything for me, but I still feel like the whole Jace and Clary being brother and sister thing isn't true, and I hope it doesn't take a billion books to find this out. The entire "I can't stop thinking about you, but your my sibling" thing is kinda getting repetitive, so I hope in the next book we find out what's really going on. Chapters 1-2 - (view spoiler)[So far, so good. I hate both Clary and Alec more than I normally do. How did utter bitch Isabelle and boring Simon become my favourites in the pack? Maybe, because they've actually grown as characters since the first book, whereas Clary and Alec are just pure annoying.

My issue with Alec is the whole 'Magnus dated people before me? How dare he? Especially a woman! Even though he's bisexual and hundreds of years older than me, how dare he even consider fancying someone, letting having a relationship or sex with them, centuries before I was even born!!'. I hate that he's got this whole stereotype in his head that because Magnus is bisexual, he's this promiscuous character who sleeps with anything that moves and he's not serious about relationships. Disgusting. I feel like this is moving to Alec becoming immortal so he can be with Magnus forever. But right now, he's acting like a child and I'm sick of it.

Also, I'm sick of the constant 'the love between Clary and Jace is so powerful and unique and no one has had love as strong as them or ever will and did they mention how powerful their love for each other is?' We get it - you guys are in love. I thought Jace being missing would stop the references to all that, but nope! And Clary is even more annoying now that she's moping about Jace.
