Just published a permanently FREE novelette on Amazon Kindle StoreTHE SYNOPSIS:
In July 1993, Detective-Inspector Ikenna Kodilinye of Lagos Police Command is ordered by his superior to travel to the faraway city of Enugu to assist the local police over there with their investigations. He is reluctant to go to Enugu because of the trauma that he suffered there as child during the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970).
This short story chronicles the frustrations endured by Ikenna while stuck in the notorious Lagos city traffic en route to the airport from where he is scheduled to fly to Enugu.
Between an annoyingly talkative taxi driver, the chaotic gridlock outside and the emotional turmoil brought on by the reawakening of repressed childhood memories, the frustrated Lagos city detective struggles inside his taxicab to keep himself cool under the sweltering citywide heatwave. Then he relieves his childhood trauma from decades past, and comes to the realization that his superior's order to travel to Enugu was serendipitous— a chance to finally experience catharsis.

But this year, Marion is in hospital. Desperate to keep her word, she entrusts the devices to Shannon, her daughter. Shannon only has to place the Epipens in a hollow in the roots of the old tree. However, she has recently been betrayed by the man she trusted. Still hurting and embarrassed by the pity she sees in the eyes of her friends, she just wants to get as far away as possible. And she can't get much further away than the twelfth century.
Hildegarde, Abbess of Sparnstow, is expecting a visit from Giles. She is not expecting a young woman from 2012. As Shannon stumbles her way through the social niceties of the twelfth century, she will discover that some things never change.
Although this is book 2 in the Out of Time series, it can be read as a standalone novel. It was published as second in the series, but chronologically, it comes after book 3, Blossom on the Thorn.

After years of being an emotional eater, I decided to write a book about it.
I was always tucking into a packet of cookies, thinking I'd earnt it after having a bad day, and before I knew it I had taken the last one.
It's a hard topic for men to talk about with their friends. Men don't seem to worry about their weight in the same way that women do, but men's health can suffer just the same.
I've had a lot of jobs that involve driving and after hours of enduring the monotony of a road journey, the temptation to pull into a 'drive-thru' is too great to resist. Drive thrus are so abundant on the highway, by the time you've passed a 3rd or 4th one, temptation's got you. Always seems like a good idea at the time. Not to mention the countless snacks available at gas stations and how they're promoted.
I've been to countless parties where the host says "Someone have the rest of that cake, I don't want to throw it away."
Sweet and salty treats are fine in moderation, but how do we control our cravings.
