Julia Bell (juliabellromanticfiction) | 170 comments My time travel romance is FREE for just this weekend (26th-27th May). If you enjoy a story that has a large dose of menace and suspense then TO GUIDE HER HOME will be just right for you.

When Russ finds secret steps in a house that was once a family home, he meets Lydia, a beautiful young woman living in the late nineteenth century. And loses his heart.
But Russ also discovers the evil he's only read about in history books. Now that evil is flesh and blood and intent on not only destroying their love, but also endangering Lydia's life.

. | 5 comments MOJO Give your life a makeover! Maintain your identity, improve your relationships and enjoy motherhood. by Dawn Elissa

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Goodreads forum. Very excited to be here.

I have been working on my first book 'MOJO' for the last few months, and I am very excited to announce that I have just self published it on Amazon.

For the next 5 days it is on a free promotion on Kindle. I'm currently working on the paperback version, and this should be live once the free promotion expires.

I would be extremely grateful for any downloads and reviews left on Amazon.

Essentially it is a book for women, specifically Mums, who feel that they may have lost their identity a little. It's a book designed to allow women to question themselves, do a little soul searching and give their lives (in all areas) a makeover.

For those of you who decide to download it, thank you.

My book aside, I look forward to being a positive contributor to the forum, the discussion, and can't wait to read some amazing books.

Thank you for reading.

David Christmas (davidchristmas) | 3 comments Free promotion on Amazon Kindle for three days. Exiles of Titan.

This is my first book and has been available for a year now with a few good reviews. It's basically quite hard sci-fi, with a whodunnit and a race to save the human race at the end. It's also the first of a trilogy, the second of which (Agents of Titan) has just appeared on Amazon.

The trilogy encompasses a lot of territory, from the origin of consciousness, to our apparent obsession with religion, but is pretty well grounded in a few gifted individuals, the main protagonists being in the MacMahon family.

David Edwards | 446 comments 5 DAYS, 28th May-1st June, FREE! FREE! FREE! FREE! FREE!

5*Reviewed #1 Bestseller The Spirit Of The Age, ( is a Satirical Metaphysical Literary Contemporary Fantasy, only sensibly available for the Kindle (who’d want to pay £17.99 for a Paperback?).

"Fresh, complex, original and at times frankly a little bonkers but always engaging with many hilarious moments."

"I laughed out loud"

Non-halal and non-kosher sacred cow slaughter is the order of the day as Probationary Police Constable Skandi Khan, transplanted from famously decaying multi-cultural Hounslow, cuts a swathe through rural Dorset. She grapples with a crime wave whilst struggling to get her arranged marriage back on track.

It's idyllic rural touristy Jurassic Dorset as you have never seen her before. Monumental statues disappear, and bodies turn up in the ocean. There's murder, mystery, mermaids, music, Muslims, marriages, mages, mayhem and mirth, all served up with lashings of sex and cricket.

Drawing inspiration from Tom Sharpe, Mikhail Bulgakov, Louis de Bernières and Terry Pratchett, it melds magic, mystery and metaphysical speculation with intricately drawn and engaging three dimensional characters. Its unique story line makes for a most enjoyable read.

Jethro Punter | 3 comments Evening,

I have just released my Novel "The Boy who Dreamt the World" on Amazon and am currently running a 5 day free download (ending on the 4th June 2018). The free period started at the end of May so I hope this is still eligible for this discussion thread!

It's a fantasy adventure aimed at Middle Grade Readers but should be suitable for older readers too. A brief summary/pitch below:

"There are two worlds which have always lived alongside each other, The Waking World and the Great Dream, Reverie. Adam is living a very ordinary life until he becomes aware of the link between the worlds and discovers that, as a Daydreamer, he is one of the very few people who can travel freely between the two and achieve impossible things.

You would think that being in control of your dreams would be fun. But when both worlds are threatened by a new and growing danger and when Nightmares not only roam the dream world but also start chasing him even while he is awake, Adam realises that he will need all of his new found powers just to survive the night.

With the help of a very unusual band of friends Adam now has to save both worlds, discover more about his past and, if he can, try and avoid yet another detention."

If this might be something you would enjoy please use the link below, download for free and (hopefully) enjoy!

For a lie to add piquancy to a story, the story would be factual. Fantasy needs no lie to stimulate or excite. But if the factual story is contrived or fallacious then it’s the fantasy that is the truth.

H.E. Bulstrode (goodreadscomhebulstrode) | 58 comments The Cleft Owl: A Tale of Occult Deception.

Witness the work of a practitioner of the occult arts, a willing deceiver and interpreter of dreams, schooled in awe by a house of God rendered a charnel house by a fiery, dancing orb of light. Self-tutored in greed, and self-assured in his deceptions, Robert Tooley would have many think him able to command the dead and have them do his bidding, but as his demands grow greater, so the villagers’ doubts grow deeper; there will be an end to it all, and not a pretty one.

Based upon a little-known and strange case that unfolded in Widecombe-in-the-Moor during the late 17th century, a number of the characters here portrayed – Tooley, the Reverend Tickle and the Worshipful Sir William Bastard – all played a role in the life of this tightly-knit community. Lost in obscurity, this episode is here resurrected, and the dead pressed to speak.

Free from Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th June inclusive. Available from Amazon at

David Hadley | 4873 comments Juggling Balls is free for the next five days.

The cover looks like this:

The blurb says this:

Martin Laws hates mysteries.
So why has someone sent him a bag of juggling balls?
Why has he no memory of buying a new computer?
Why has that new computer decided Martin needs to go shopping?
Why does a hairstylist he's never met before keep saluting him?
Most of all, why are so many Elvis impersonators trying to kill him?

Juggling Balls - a science fiction comedy featuring time travel, mind control implants and a future religion that claims an Elvis Presley clone as its saviour.
Oh, and an interplanetary terraced house.

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 1092 comments My short story collection - free today and tomorrow:

A multi-genre collection of tales, each one with an unusual little twist to surprise, shock, delight or make you think again.

Araneae Oculis –
Freak weather conditions terrify a hunter gatherer society with more than its fair share of romantic intrigue but who are these people really?

The Beast Awakens –
The Mayor Elect gives no quarter in election campaigns; he even gets a large dog to scare away canvassers, but he reckons without a political opponent’s victory and an appalling sex scandal.

Coming Home for Christmas –
A famous author returns to her hometown for a book signing and is assailed by unhappy memories; then she meets her first love in the park…

Counting his Treasures –
Shades of Alfred Hitchcock abound in this macabre murder mystery with a very unusual murderer.

Fire in Hope Street –
Set in the 1980s; a tale of football and a heroic act that saves two underprivileged boys from a future blighted by poverty, abuse and deprivation.

Of Matilda Who Told Lies –
Matilda is a very bad girl; although she dresses like a princess, she cusses like a sailor, torments bugs and fish, cheeks adults and, what is more, tells lies. Magon is a dragon. This is their story.

The Nefarious Deeds of Flautobel –
Lonely retired teacher, Madeline, develops an interesting new hobby and surprises an old pupil.

Return of the Gods –
They came to help humanity; together they built the pyramids; now they return to a world devastated by nuclear war but who are they really and what was the original purpose of the trip?

Unusual Dog Breeds –
After a frustrating bus ride, Florence experiences a very difficult day at school; everything is not as it seems on Pet’s Day.

Of course it's always free with Kindle Unlimited...

Holden Braithwaite | 8 comments 'My Year With The Gods' - FREE to July 20

A challenging read

Refined exotic escapism: An intense, adult, character-driven study of the absurd where humorous overtones mask a graphic, deeply subversive, perverse undercurrent in an ancient world adventure and epic love story like no other.

Cursed from birth to remember everything except his own name an 11-year-old village idiot ('savant fou') creates chaos, outrage and regime change in Eudaemon (Aden) in 534CE when he, Andromeda and Scheherazade, goddesses of the hunt and fables join Hermes, messenger of the gods in his epic search for his long lost true love, Lesbia. Discovering on their chaotic way the scrolls containing the true Epectesy of St. Gregory of Nyssa, revealing something so shocking and socially explosive it was hidden for centuries - the key to the eternal cerebral orgasm. And the emancipation of women.

Your reviews will be most welcome

Bernie Morris (berniem) | 164 comments Bobby's Girl is free until midnight July 19
In Bernie Morris's haunting novel of adolescent love, set in the golden years of rock 'n roll, lies London East End's response to 'West Side Story'. The background is one of blitzed ruins, 'bommies', surrounding a lonely mile of The Highway that runs alongside the docks. Here, where the sense of destruction is ever present, live Kate's mother and brutal stepfather. Here Kate and Jon, two school kids deeply in love but too young to date, meet secretly. Here too lives Bobby, leader of the Alleycats, sworn enemy of the Hellcats, Kate's tender-hearted protector and Jon's rival. And always at Bobby's side is Adam, enigmatic Shadowcat, prophet, warrior and soul brother.

'Bobby's Girl' is a story of love, and of different loves - tragic, compelling and masterly in its recreation of an epoch.

But, when he introduces intelligent life to his new universe, things don’t turn out as he planned, especially when the tribes on his planet each create their opposing gods in his image.
Now Albert must rescue the people on his creation from themselves and the warring religions they’ve created.

Flash fiction is a style of literature I especially enjoy. For example, Yasunari Kawabata's Palm-of-the-Hand Stories, a volume of flash fictions he wrote over a sixty year period, is one of my favourite short story collections. I regard it as inspiring. I enjoy reading flash fiction and I enjoy writing it.

Why? A Story Of—-Sex, Murder, and oh yes—Love

A Review

Drama, erotica, passion, suspense; they are all here.
A bipolar plot pitted with oodles of painful depravity, a collection of which can only be found in the depths of London's underworld. Yet the power of love shines through, supplying blanket after fluffy blanket of beautiful romance.
Such a lover!
A man for all seasons and reasons, but with a heart for only one woman.
What a woman!
Sigh.......A five-star romance with a beautifully and poetically crafted ending which will tear your heart-strings to shreds.
