ABANDONED. Vampire trilogy

I’m looking for a trilogy I read many years ago probably in the 90s. I don’t remember much just that it had at least one male vampire but there could have been two and a human girl. Also what I remember the most is the scene where because the house had a add on that when the vampire tried to come in he could only get in so far since he had to be invited and hadn’t been asked into the old section

It is the first Vampire Diaries book. I read it a few years ago. Damian is trying to go after Elena and her room is in the old section of the house.
