LA Cantrell | 1324 comments Y'all, my old age is creeping up on me. I know Cormac McCarthy and William Gay are a couple of our fave writers who skip the quotation marks during dialogue, but without yanking books down off the shelves (because I'm feeling lazy today), can you recall others?

I'm going to a little literary event tonight, and the topic is dialogue. I got brain-freeze!

Howard | 499 comments Amor Towles in "Rules of Civility." I don't know about "A Gentleman in Moscow." I haven't read it.

I don't remember that from Rules of Civility. I must have managed it ok because I loved that book.
