I started reading this novel in 2014-2015. The details I remember are the following:

- Guy had a boring job and his friend wanted him to come work at his game studio, so he does.

- I think the friend was dead, maybe?

- He was a designer/programmer and I'd gotten to the point where he was starting to hallucinate or weird stuff was happening.

- I remember the QA Tester being a fun character.

I've been trying to find the name since Thursday, and my google-fu has failed me.
