Jane Rizzoli was deeply traumatized by The Surgeon but never received any therapy other than treatment for her physical injuries. Should the department have required it? Is that something that would be required today?

I definitely think she should have received therapy. As to whether it is required, I'm not sure if it is mandatory. I think here in the UK there would be an assessment to ensure that the person is fit for service and therefore it would have been identified that therapy is required.

It was obvious within her own command and her lieutenant should have ordered it. It was a disservice to Jane and the department not to have her spend time in therapy.

She should definitely had got therapy. If this book was set now days I think she would got therapy as people are more understanding about therapists and don’t think that means that there is something wrong with you, which I felt like why Jane didn’t want to do.
