I'm fine with the four that you listed! I think it makes sense to continue to slowly evolve our theme and Communism is a clear step.
How about doing a book on Soviet Russia too? Regardless, this plan sounds good to me. I'd be happy to do the poll for Vietnam or basically any of them. Also: I'm going to be moving to Europe around the end of August/early September which will likely be quite hectic, so there's a possibility I'll miss one around that time. But you shouldn't feel held up by me.
I'm getting married and at a national conference in August so I'm *totally* ok with skipping that month! Nice to have a little break too :) Maybe we skip August, add Russia, and skip December and that covers us through the end of this year? Sound ok? And I agree about Soviet Russia! That would be a fascinating choice. I'm up for doing a poll for any country. If someone wants to assign me go for it or I can volunteer (basically I'm flexible LOL).

Otherwise, people can post which country they want for their poll! People who haven't posted a poll yet get first consideration (Claire, Becki, Sylvia, and myself posted last time). Like last time, I'll wait until ~May 29 or 30 to see if there are any polls left.

Countries in first group - TBD! We had discussed doing communist countries, and there actually are four of those left (since we already did North Korea): People's Republic of China, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Laos), Republic of Cuba. I think it would be pretty easy to find books for each of these except maybe Laos, which I can't think of anything for at the top of my head. Otherwise we can think of another theme for the countries (by continent? current events?)
I think we should decide on a theme / the countries by May 15, so that there is plenty of time for people to sign up and research their polls.
