Hi hope someone can help I read this paperback in the early 2000's very much in the Sword and Sorcery style with magic ect ..I think it was a series that featured a mage (male), a male love interest and an elemental that was trying to learn to love, and could turn into anything. I would like to finish the series.

Was this a kids' book, YA, or aimed at adults, do you think?

No I don't think so, but I think I found it. It's by Diane Duane and the book is The Door Into Fire
But I see she does do YA books.
