My husband and I visited Salem MA on Oct 31 a few years back. It was NOT planned with Halloween in mind. We were visiting New England and started in Boston. Our plan was to "leave on Wednesday to drive to Kennebunkport" .... no thought to the actual date. And along the way we stopped in Salem. What a riot! Our only disappointment is that the House of the Seven Gables was closed.
