Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments I love Nimona!! And wish it were an ongoing series!

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments We are half way through hour two. I have listened two two stories from How Long 'til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemisin and I am going to switch over to my kindle book All Creatures Great and Small (All Creatures Great and Small, #1) by James Herriot for a little while. Max had a rough time waking up this morning, so he is eating his breakfast now and about to start The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty .

Ann A (readerann) | 867 comments I LOVE James Herriot's books. Hope you and Max have a fun day.

message 54: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments Into hour 4 now. I am still reading All Creatures Great and Small. Max had to go to gymnastics practice, but he took his kindle so he could listen to his book during the 45 minute car ride.

message 55: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments I took a break from my other two books to knock an item off the Read Harder Challenge. I needed to read a manga, so I checked one out of the library. Buso Renkin, Vol. 1. It was a bit choppy and hard for me to follow sometimes. I don't know if it was the story or just a manga thing. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

message 56: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments After reading a bit more of All Creatures Great and Small, I took another break in order to cross a Popsugar Reading Challenge book. I read House of Danger. It fulfilled the Choose Your Own Adventure prompt.

message 57: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments House of Danger helped me finish two BINGO lines. I have completed the B column and the diagonal line (upper left to lower right).

message 60: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments Max is trying to finish up his BINGO board. Here is his response to the mini challenge "The Crossover to End All Crossovers":

The fairies from 13 Treasures and the pixies from Fablehaven get together to make mischief in the real world.

message 61: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments I am doing to do the six word story challenge:

Crowds rush past, he is alone.

I did this one and I thought a fun crossover would be Geralt from The Witcher series as the new Defense Against Dark Arts professor in the Harry Potter series.

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments Emma is joining Max and me for the readathon this year. Here is our opening survey:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
We are in Maryland, USA

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to reading A Fire Story. Emma is making her way through the Harry Potter series (she is currently reading book 4) and Max is looking forward to We're Not from Here.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Rice Krispie treats.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I am a stay at home mom who likes to read and photography. Max is my 12-year old son and Emma is my 15-year old daughter. They both do acrobatic gymnastics (when we are not stuck at home).

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
We have no where to go today, so that is a change compared to previous readathons.

Oh noooo to be 12 and have a migraine for 2 days?! That's awful!! I get them as an adult and I can barely function. Poor kid! Glad Max was able to recover and get some reading done. I love that he's so into audiobooks! That shows a really good focus! How to Be a Good Creature, They Called Us Enemy, and the Bob series are in my (endless) TBR. I enjoyed Anna Dressed in Blood, the sequel a little less so. Great job Cora and Max!

message 93: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments Max and I are here for the Spring Readathon!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Maryland, USA
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I didn't make a stack this time. I am winging it!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Veggies and dip.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I live in Maryland. I have three teenaged kids and in addition to reading, I like photography. Max is 13, in middle school (virtually) and his Book Wars competition is next week. When he is not reading he likes video games, acrobatic gymnastics, and karate.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? We did no preplanning this time, we will se how that goes.

message 94: by Cora (new)

message 99: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 128 comments Max and I are reading for today's readathon. We are having a late start because Max has four hours of gymnastics today.

We have both started with a new audio book in the car on the way to gymnastics practice. We started Took: A Ghost Story. It is one of the books on the list for his Book Wars team and since it is a spooky book it is perfect for this month.

I am trying to finish up my current audiobook Neanderthal Seeks Human.

The kindle book I am working on is The Lacuna.

message 100: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) | 2288 comments Sounds good, Cora! Happy readathon to both of you!
