Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon April 2018: Pre-Readathon 3

I’ll mostly be reading but definitely also cleaning so I can totally ignore the house for the RaT. I’m also going to wish for bad weather Friday through Sunday as this would mean my twin sister will come to my place to take part.
My preRaT shopping will be done over the week but whatever I chose as snacks has to wait as long as possible or I will just eat it early, I have absolutely no willpower for that kind of thing.

Update for my pre-RaT Prep time.
As I said in my initial post I'll be doing a lot of reading but add a few other things in.
4/20
5 minutes shopping - I went for a few snacks, but unfortunately I'm already eating them. I really need to save my main snack shopping for next Friday.
4 hours 20 minutes reading
Finished

Started Just for Now by Rosalind James
Total time: 4 hours 25 minutes

Yesterday I did a lot of reading and even though I'm not a great fan of audio books I'm part of a challenge and try to listen to 3-6 a moth at the moment. Yesterday that meant listening while cooking. I usually listen when I go for a walk (2 hours) or cooking and cleaning so should hopefully be able to listen to a few more this week.

I went shopping on Thursday as today Friday is a Bank Holiday in Denmark though I could probably have gotten most of my things as my main shopping was in Germany (I live close to the border). Apart from coffee for my husband as he only likes a few brands and they are not the ones I can get cheap in the bordershops.

It is getting to crunch time. Readathon is just over a week away and time is getting short. So Gabby and I decided to do something a little different for this third and final pre-readathon readathon....
I know from my many, many, many past readathons (about 10 years worth... this is like 19 or 20 for me) that the final week is spent doing a lot of prep work. There's the shopping and the TBR pile forming and the blog posts to prep and the meals and snacks to do in advance. Not to mention all the things to be done around the group and the facebook group as a moderator. I clock a lot of hours in this final week and don't get in nearly as much reading time as I would like. I imagine that for many of you, it is the same story.
So for this final pre-readathon, we are going to aim for fitting in 24 hours of readathon prep. Any activity you do that involves preparing for the readathon gets to count. Did you go grocery shopping to buy your supplies? Tell us how long it took. And share with us what you got. Did you spend time making a thread here on Goodreads to track all your reading and mini-challenge activities? Tell us about it. Did you spend 5 hours reading... you know, to get your mind ready for the onslaught of reading to come on the 28th? Tell us what you read. Did you go visit the threads of 13 people who signed up and welcomed them to the readathon? Yep, you guessed it, that counts too. As does any time reading and responding to things here on goodreads. It all counts. You just have to share what you did and how long it took
Each new activity should be a new comment that tells us what you did, how long it took, and what your combined total hours are. Estimates of time spent is more than okay. And nobody gets judged for anything they did or how long it takes. I'm the first to admit, I have spent 5 hours grocery shopping before because I needed to find the perfect snacks. So no judgement.
We're trying to build a community here on our goodreads group and so we really want to encourage interacting with one another. But if you spend the whole 24 hours just reading, that's fine to.
This was a completely new idea and it might end up failing. But I really do hope you all enjoy it and take advantage. This pre-readathon goes until about a half an hour before the readathon begins (because that is usually when I begin moving threads around for the actual event). Let me know if you have any questions :)
Ready, set, go!
