Unable to fix my author name

Hi,

I've claimed my author profile, but somehow in that version my name is different than the one I normally use (and which I use on amazon), so now I am unable to claim my books.

This account (goodreads.com/cc_abnoe) is linked to the author C.C. Abnoe, while the author name on my two books is CC Abnoe, without the dots.

When I try to fix this on my own author profile I get the message:

"Sorry, only users with librarian status can edit book and author data. If you would like librarian status, then please apply here."

If I try to claim one of my books I get the message:

"Sorry, you are already in the author program as C.C. Abnoe and only one author profile may be claimed at a time. For more information click here."

Can somebody please fix this for me, so that my author name is also CC Abnoe and I can claim my books?

Goodreads policy is to have dots after initials, so unfortunately your author profile can't be changed.

I reverted the name change on one of the editions.

Ok, so the CC are not really initials, but thank you. At least now I can own my own books on here.

Sorry to reopen this thread, but the issue remains. I've released a new book on Amazon recently, which is automatically imported here (Stephanie Rescued), but not linked to my author page, because the author profile here has the dots, and on amazon it doesn't.

So, do I now have to request a fix for every subsequent book I release? That doesn't sound like the correct solution...

If you add the book before the import bots you'd be ok, otherwise its a couple of sentences and we fix it. Takes very little time for us to do that.

I'm having a similar problem.

My name is J Washburn. My first name, legally, is just one letter long. So adding a period to "abbreviate" it makes it longer and is incorrect. The letter J is my whole first name. See http://www.jwashburn.com/author . However, people often assume it's an abbreviation, and so they add an unnecessary period, which has caused some problems.

#20 J I've removed the Mormon book (it's still showing due to caching).

The best way to combine the 2 profiles and not lose your followers is to request a merge in the staff thread.

So I'll do that for you now.
