Jena Davis What is the relationship between freedom and responsibility?

Amber Buhs This is shown a lot in the book. In the beginning they were only using their freedom and weren't being very responsible about it. Towards the middle and end Josie got them on a daily schedule and they all cooked and cleaned and took care of the children as well as having some freedom as well.

Jena Davis Like Amber had said, they had used their freedom very randomly and didn't get done what they needed to in the beginning. It took Niko to organize cleaning groups and set what is needed off to the side and clean as needed. If it were to Jake and Brayden, I am not sure if they would end up being able to clean up the store because it was not a necessity for them.

Also, if it hadn't been for Dean, they wouldn't have had a stable meal times. Without this responsibility, they wouldn't have any set thing that remained the same from before they were in the store to while they were in the store.

Jena Davis Without these responsibilities, they wouldn't have the freedom needed to do anything fun. The kids especially needed some sort of set schedule, which they only got from doing their responsibilities.
