I'm starting it, too :)

Oops, I forgot to add the book...

Umm, which one?

I just looked and he was mentioned in Lying Eyes as the new bar manager. I didn't realize until I read the bar name just now.

Sorry, I've added it. You'll see the cover if you refresh your screen.

Oh, I don't remember... LOL. Thanks for checking, Josy! :)

Haven't heard of it but I'll check it out once we are done. Thank you :)

Thanks, Karen. I'll check it out when we are done here. :)

It was at the very end of Lying Eyes :)

You're welcome.
Also...damn, I knew I should have read "

Nah, not really :)
The same that was mentioned in this book - that Rudy is the new bar manager - was mentioned in Lying Eyes. Nothing more about him in that book but since he played a role there and in this book, I'm sure he will get his own story.

I'm done, too, and this was too much - even for me. I'm a sad puppy...

Way too much. :( I think I will post my review tomorrow. I might have to add a few more things...

I downloaded the book since I can't resist a freebie. LOL. But I'll put it on my maybe-shelf. I'm not a big football-fan. :( But when I want to read it, at least I have it now. :)

I'm sorry you got disappointed in the end, Josy. Tbh, the second half would have been a 1-star- read and that it raaaaare for me. :(

LOL. I asked you several times if you were sure you wanted to BR this one as the author's style doesn't mesh with you. I'm still surprised you went for it !!

I really felt the connection between these two guys and I felt for Hernán and what he had to go through was so horrible and then all the emotions went out of the window when it became ridiculous and OTT. I really wanted to love this book and at first I thought I could and did and then that...

I hope you're going to have a great week despite work or packing.
Sweet dreams to you Josy and Simone and have a lovely afternoon, Karen !!

The blurb did sound great and I really really loved the first half, but after that... it was a nope with a capital N. :(

I hope you're going to have a great week despite work or packing.
Sweet dreams to you Josy and Simone and have a lovely afternoon, Karen !!"
Sweet dreams to you too, Christelle! Have a good night! <3

Hey, not so fast Mrs. Christelle, lol!! How are you rating this one?? Did you like it, love it, hate it?? Come on, don't leave us hanging :)

I feel you! It's not that I didn't feel their connection... I loved both guys! For me it's like the first half has been written by a different author. In the second half he fell back to everything I don't like about him or rather his writing style. :(

I hope you're going to have a great week despite work or packing.

For me it was obvious that she loved it. LOL.

For me, it wasn't the entire second half but yes, I know what you mean and it really felt like that.

LOL! Yes, I was only kidding when I asked if she hated it :)

Yeap feeling the same here. :(

Here is a bit more about it: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

;-)

Maybe she got lost in one of her boxes? Or she is drowning in wrapping paper? We should probably rescue her, lol!

Yeap feeling the same here. :("
I see you rated it three stars... Basically I'm done with my review, but I'm going to read yours tomorrow, okay? I have to add a few things...

Yeap feeling the same here. :("
Sorry, Ariana!! When it started out so great, I had really high hopes :(

Hmmm, I don't think it's for me, Josy. :( I still think

LOL. If she weren't so far away... ;-)

YES!! The audio for this one was exceptional ;)

Well, it's Greg after all... LOL.

LOL, sorry, I was looking at the GR feed.
For me, it's gonna be a 4 stars. I loved the story, the characters and the author, no question about that. What bumped me so was the complete change in the story with the reappearance of Lonnie. I wish the author kept on the plotline instead of adding this "action" line. It derailed the whole story.
So 80% of the book was perfect, 20% was like a parallel short story added and meh for me, so 80% leaves me with 4 stars.
And I appreciate the author used a topic that is not usual and not easy to write/read about because it's not a very comfortable matter !!

LOL, sorry, I was looking at the GR feed..."
I agree with you on the topic, Christelle, and like I already said to Josy, for me it was like someone else has written the first half. You know I have some problems with his writing style and they were totally gone during the first half, but then everything went to hell again.
For me it's simple maths: 4.5 stars for the first half, 1 for the second = 5.5 stars : 2 = 2.75. I will say in my review that it's barely 3 stars. :(

I loved the topic and I feel that stories like this need to be heard so this was a win for me! I just feel like it should have been executed differently. I can't even say how just that it needed to be different.
Simone's earlier comment about how we were both feeling like part of this book was written by a different author made me think about it some more and it actually makes sense when you remember that most of what happened in the first half of the book came from the author's friend - the friend told the story. Now I'm sure the author wrote it in his own words but it was still the friend's story. And at one point, the RL background faded and it was pure fiction again and only the author's words and thoughts. Does this make sense??
