message 95: by Cecile (new)

Cecile Grudzinski | 49 comments I enjoyed this book very much. Although I think of Tom. So athletic with such a zest for life and only to end his days with that terrible disease. Prior to reading this book, I have to admit that I had heard of Huntington’s Disease, but really knew nothing about it. When I was in Costa Rica I travelled two hours to a beach arriving at dawn to watch turtles climbing out of their nests and learned about their migration habits. What a treat. This book helped fill in gaps like how the nesting takes place, how often they lay eggs in a season and how long it is before the babies come back home to lay their own eggs. Thank you for picking this one Jan.

message 96: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20734 comments I'm so glad you enjoyed it Cecile! And that's so cool that you witnessed the baby turtles. I bet that was an awesome sight!!

Another good book that I read about Huntington’s disease was Inside the O'Briens by Lisa Genova - it was really good if anyone was interested in learning or reading more about this illness.

message 98: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20734 comments Thanks for the recommendation Linda!! I had never heard of it until I read this book.

I just started a new book and I had no clue it all turtle laying stuff in it. Surprise!!
Endangered Species (Anna Pigeon, #5) by Nevada Barr

message 99: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 85 comments Jan, That turtle laying business is pretty cool.

message 100: by Karen (new)

Karen | 621 comments Anything Lisa Genova writes terrifies me - her Still Alice was so spot on, realistic, and terrifying that I haven't been able to bring myself to read anything else by her!
