Multi-generational fiction novel set in the 1880's [s]

The book focuses on the women in each generation who end up living in a particular home (a Victorian maybe?)in what I want to say was a city named Washington Heights (?). The book begins around the 1880's, the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge is a small part of the story. I think the main female characters name may have been Amy. I think the story spans the 1880's through the 1970's or so. The title of the book may have had the word 'Home' or 'House' in it.

I found it! 'A House of Her Own' by Marcia Rose, from 1990. Not sure how to move this post from 'unsolved' to 'solved' though, lol :)
