I have a few more Japanese women writers on my list and a few Swedish ones however my taste runs more towards crime so dunno if that's of interest... so let me know if you'd like a list :)
I just finished a book by Shahrnush Parsipur who also wrote other books translated to English. She currently resides in the US so her more recent works may be in English though.

I bought some fantasy books by Mercedes Lackey, The Case of the Spellbound Child, A Study in Sable, and A Scandal in Battersea. They are Sherlock Holmes in the world of Valdemar.

Oh, good job. I know you've been reading others in that series.
So I was just at the book store and saw The Mueller Report Illustrated: The Obstruction Investigation as a graphic book! Lol
I think it would be unfair to call graphic novels "comic books", but it's still hard to understand how they could have turned The Mueller Report into a graphic book. I would be suspect of the interpretation.
It may just be the alternative facts version that William Barr prepared for Individual One to "read".

Valerie wrote: "Merry Christmas + Happy (ie. good reading!!!) New Year to my RwS compatriots!"I like that we're all "compatriots" in the reading world, no matter where are on the planet. Merry Christmas, everyone, and all best wishes for 2020.
OK...I don't often meet goals for this group. Seldom finishing anything I plan nor posting in a timely fashion. However, I am finishing 2019 by having posted to date the books that I have read. (Giving myself a pat on the back for starting the new season right.)
Happy New Year!!We've spent New Year's Eve awake & alert watching the bush fire across the road. Sent the kids to my in-laws just in case (asthma & smoke do not mix) so we are home on our own for now (still burning) ... do i clean or do i read?
If I clean, I'll just have to wipe down all the ash all over again...
Happy New Year. I wish a good 2020 for everyone. I hope those fires die down Tien. Really hoping for the best for everyone in Australia + all the poor animals.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful 2020. Tien, I hope the fires stay away and burn out very soon.
My brother-in-law teaches in Gippsland where the fires are really bad. He only got back to Melbourne for Christmas because they cancelled the last day of school. Now he is wondering if he will have a house and a school to go back to. He spent the New Year worrying about all his students.

I'm sorry to all who must deal with the fear of brush fires. Be safe and good luck. Happy New Year to all!
I'm heading to Phoenix tomorrow (Sunday) for my older granddaughter's wedding on Thursday. I'll return late Friday. I will have access, but may be busier with family and not checking in too often. Kate will be around, of course, but she's a busy woman. Have patience!

Halfaway! How is everyone doing?I've started my planned second round of CYOA, but I also have some books to read for a couple of other groups. I'm beginning to feel a bit pressured that I might not be able to fit everything in. CYOA is my priority, though.
OMG! Halfway.....! I lost track of time. I saw you starting your second round of CYOA, Elizabeth! Good for you.
I was hoping to be a book or two further along in my COYA plan, but am generally happy with my progress there. As for the rest of the challenges, I would be surprised if I achieved a finish. I'm allowing myself to be distracted by books for other groups. They generally fit into a challenge category, but it seems they are ones I've already done!
My biggest stumbling block this season may be the anthology I chose for 20.9. It includes a handful of authors I like a lot and a bunch of ones I am kind of 'meh' about. So it's been a struggle to get back to it. Luckily, being an anthology, I can read it in bits and pieces.
Valerie wrote: "Luckily, being an anthology, I can read it in bits and pieces."To me, that's just about the only way to read a collection of stories. I surprised myself this season by reading Maugham's Ashenden straight through and it was definitely an exception to my normal approach.
I'm on track to finish the Mega and maybe a 2nd round of CYOA. I haven't been posting as much as I usually would because I have several books going at once..... one on my kindle, one at bedside, one downstairs, one audiobook in my car, another audiobook I listen too while walking...and then my library informed me that one of my books has someone waiting for it...so, I have to start and finish that one within 3 days...so switching to that one.

I agree. It's not often I read a book of short stories straight through.

One of the benefits of my temporary part time job at the library is that staff get longer borrowing periods. Maybe you should get yourself a part time job at the library, Ed....... ha, ha....
I'm on track to finish the RWS tasks. I haven't done any of the CYOA, so may not get to those at all, especially since it looks like I have a shot at the most strategic reader.I've been tearing through books these past couple of months, which is great because I felt like I had something of a slump last year.

It is a style this time. So any book you read that was originally published in a language other than English gets an extra 10 points.
