Just came back from seeing a wonderful film, A Bag of Marbles about two French Jewish boys who escape the clutches of the Nazis during WWII. At the end, I learned that it is based on a true story....and that it is based on the memoir A Bag of Marbles by Joseph Joffo...and the author is still alive. I just put it on my TBR list...but don't know when I'll get around to it. Has anyone here already read it?

I'm suddenly swamped with work and may struggle to finish, but I hope I will just manage to scrape a mega. I have 5 tasks to do, I think.
I was stalled out on RtD for a couple weeks when I kept struggling to find books for '88, but I finally had some good luck/found a good book. I should be able to read my last five books for that by the end of the month, fingers crossed. But I still feel like I'm running behind!

My San Diego daughter will be arriving this afternoon for a week long visit. She hasn't been back to Ketchikan for nearly 32 years - lots to see and do! I will still be here, but maybe not quite so attentive. Kate will be around too, but keep in mind your questions may take longer to be answered. The good news for all of you is that Kate will get the sub-challenge posted tonight or tomorrow - time to get your pencils sharpened!

I leave on Saturday for Stockholm....then Budapest, Prague and Normandy.

Just two weeks this time.
Coralie wrote: "My grandchildren (aged 3 & 4) were on the news on TV this evening, splashing in puddles."That must be so cute! :)
Elizabeth, I hope you have a lovely weekend with your daughter!
And Ed, have a wonderful trip!

One bit of news from me to share -- I'm expecting a baby in about a month!! We are really excited, and terrified, in equal measure. I'm guessing that this will probably have an impact on my reading and posting, too :) So I may be around here a bit less after June 19 (or whenever she decides to make her grand entrance!).

Congratulations, Katy! Maybe the mods can concoct a special task that involves reading aloud to your baby!

We are still working through our country list. Hoping to offer some good opportunities to knock a few more off this summer.

My reading and participation has noticeably dropped off. things are starting to settle down some, so hopefully I will be back on here more. I was looking at our countries project and was wondering do we still have all those countries to fill in? "I'm glad you're still here and plugging away - 60 hours a week is a hard road without trying to accomplish anything else!
Yes, we still have our countries project. The remaining countries are on this list.
Countries Still to Go
And stay tuned - summer is coming, there just might be something to motivate you!

I seem to hear a lot about libraries going the way of the dodo, so it's nice to hear they are employing someone to catalogue collections.

I have had the list at the back of my mind this season - not that it impacted my choices, obviously! I'll have to try harder in the future; although I do still think some of the remaining countries will be impossible to 'tick off' the list.

Yes. I belong to that group and am always looking at their bookshelves!

Perhaps.
My granddaughter had her baby last night, and of course I think she's beautiful. She was about 10 days early, and I'm sure my granddaughter wasn't sorry in the least! ;-)
