Are You A Writer?
Yes, I write. Not sure my genre is "fantasy" but perhaps supernatural/suspense.
I actually just started a fantasy novel! Also, I do highly recommend On Writing. It's more of a piece of encouragement rather than a step by step guide on how to write. It's very uplifting.

It's very upl..."Well, I'm still working out the major details but basically the main character's father has just died, and he was a famous fantasy novelist and she learns that his fantasy novels were actually real stories that have happened.
And yeah, a lot of "how to write" books can be a little off putting, so I was relieved to find that King went the anecdotal route. He talks about his failures and what it was like dealing with that rather than "This is how you make a best seller."

Just started writing background stories for my memoir.
At this time, it's being built around the sterile relationship with my father and the influences of the women that influenced my life, set in the 50s through the late 70s.
Oh cool. What made you decide to write it?
After I uncovered my father's attempt at his autobiography after he passed away about six years ago. While nearly half of his manuscript is technical jargon from his journals as an electronic engineer, it does provide background on his recollections that I intend to weave into my story.– although the level of detail from government nomenclature and expense reports is almost laughable. Manuscript is over 450 pages.on his recollections that I can hopefully weave into my story. Unfortunately for me I decided to have a stroke about a year after his death and am now returning to the project.
Wow, that sounds like a hard few years. :(
I learned to deal with my new normal and I have great family support and bad ass therapists.

Usually, I like writing fantasy, but I try dabbling with all the genres. (And I'm currently working on a murder mystery right now...)
I also prefer to write short stories, maybe a longer one here or there, or a full-length novel over here...(XD)...but I've found that fantasy is my favorite genre to write in because there's really no limits.

New author here. I write children's book.A great book by Stephen King; I keep it on my writing desk for easy access. I would recommend this book to new writers like myself. It breaks things down to a point of understanding. I love it.
I enjoy writing children's book because I cannot write for adults so I write for children :). Seriously speaking though, I just enjoy the fantasy world of a child's wild and creative magination where everything comes alive and differs from reality. I am also still a child at heart; just in a adult's body :)

Hello Karlene! Oh nice, what are those about?I write medieval fantasy geared toward adults and teens, and I'm working on a long project called Broken Divide (I wanna change the name! XD)
They are both children's books, of course, and both centered around friendship, teamwork, and perseverance. Please do read the first one and let me know what you think. It could benefit the two books I am now finishing up. Awesome; medieval fantasy. I would not know the first place to begin :).

Depends how you draw the line for teen and adult. A lot of the ya books I read have romance in then, although it's more of a subplot. Others have themes that aren't geared towards kids, if you know what I mean. Some are just young adult because they're so long. How would you draw the line?

How would I draw the line? Well, teens can read my stories (in my opinion) because the language is sparse, and there's just about no sexual content. Just a lot of violence and scheming. XD

I'm a writer as well. I self-publish, but I do write fantasy (primarily, though I also have some other genres out). My latest is The Edge of Nothing, which is the first book in a trilogy called The Lex Chronicles. It's an epic fantasy with sci-fi elements and a lot of suspense/action with a touch of romance.

I write too. Not fantasy though. I don't even think I have read a fantasy book before, so it would be interesting if I tried to write it haha. I admire people who do though. It seems like a special kind of skill. I write general fiction and short stories. I just published my first book - the first of a trilogy - His Mighty Hand: Half-Light It is a psychological suspense type of thing.
Is anyone in here yet?
