Will Epping The Toymaker, a mystery thriller by Jeremy de Quidt, gives readers the feeling of immense paranoia while also portraying such an intriguing story that the reader is unable to put the book down despite that feeling of paranoia. Mathias is a young orphan barely in his teens. His life changes drastically when he falls in possession of an extremely mysterious piece of paper. Unknowingly, the moment Mathias stuffs the paper into his pocket he had a target on his head. He is relentlessly chased by Dr. Leiter and his servant, Valter. Mathias meets a man by the name of Koenig and a young woman by the name of Katta. Koenig and Katta help him stay one step ahead of Leiter and Valter as they try to discover what lies beneath the meaning of his mysterious paper. Throughout the book, the characters realize how much revenge can come back to haunt them. That exact phrase is repeated many times amongst the characters as no one truly knows who they can trust. Another theme that came up in this book was that horror does not always lie in the darkest corners. In the case of Katta, her horrors were right in front of her the entire time. This book switches through the views of the different characters over the course of the chapters, which is an efficient way to keeps readers engaged. The author uses a great deal of imagery which gives readers the feeling of walking alongside Mathias, Koenig, and Katta while being watched through the wood by Valter. Those who enjoy thrillers and a high heart rate will thoroughly enjoy The Toymaker. This book receives a 4 star rating!

Carter Hayden The book The Toymaker sounds like a very intriguing book. This review really caught my attention because it was written and sounds like a book I would like to read. I wish he could’ve explained the plot a little bit more but over all sounds like a great book.
