The problem with Diary of a Young Girl is that it's the diary of a young girl, and young girls, as you may remember from when you were one, or spent all your time trying to make out with one, are awful.

I have never felt the desire to read this, but reading Abeng by Michelle Cliff and how the protagonist connected with Anne made me think about changing my mind

I read it some time ago. I agree with the comments about the diary of a young girl. But I also remember being touched and inspired by her. It may well depend on one's age and experience.
