WALWAB: What would your VR space look like?

I'd be sitting in a lounge chair on the patio of an Italian-style villa on a white sand beach in the Caribbean. With an enormous library of course.
Mine would probably resemble something like Dean Kamen's. Huge Library, machine shop, helicopter garage, and a steam engine waiting to be turned into a sterling engine. Had a chance to visit it once about 20 years ago (pre Segway), and the impression stuck with me. Maybe shrunk down a bit, wasn't a particularly intimate space, but it did have a ton of nooks and crannies, and even a not so secret passage IIRC.
If your a real nerd you would already have one in one of the virtual worlds on the internet :) Judging by what I see, about 75% of people seem to prefer the house/cabin on the tropical beach :)
An English country cottage surrounded by a rose garden, alternating with a super-modern home on a mountainside with lots of trees and a waterfall outside the mostly glass walls.
Never imagined a beach house before, but when I saw the question I immediately thought of Amy Adams' lake house in Arrival.
I'd have a few options. Rivendell for one. A house with an infinite library and secret passages for another. No beach for me, but the woods would be nice.
My VR would replicate a situation from my youth: Porch with big lawn and forest nearby. Lots of iced tea available. But also, magically no bugs.
Kenny wrote: "It would have to change on a fairly frequent basis, otherwise I’d go nuts. But I’d have my dog."I agree. Like my computer wallpaper I would change it frequently.
In addition to what Kenney said, why not have a Inception type layout with multiple houses or areas to have a regular rotation of scenery or office type spaces. Start a mission with a different scene each time. Not sure how that might play into the emotional state of having memories dedicated to a different helm, so to speak, for each mission though.

John: Naaaa
End Scene.
Man I admire all those that choose to be creative in that way, but as I get older I realize I'm much more becoming an "If it aint broke, don't fix it" type of guy.

It's like my personal (and cheap) photo frame. ;)
I use the slideshow option for my wallpapers. I have 3 monitors so each one has a different wallpaper. I don't think I've added a new wallpaper to the rotation for a few years though.
I do like the inception idea. Like a door in Rivendell would lead to my next VR setting, etc.

Mine would probably change according to my mood. From Haunted Mansion at Disney World, Serenity, Hogwarts, the library from Buffy, the possibilities are endless!
If I was just making an ideal home, a little cottage in the woods near a river (as in Flight of Dragons) would be nice, but I would have problems wrapping my head around simultaneously commanding my space ship from a country cottage. I think the cogs would jam in my head.My compromise would be to go a bit Riker. The NextGen Enterprise has got to be one of the most comfortable places to command a starship, and I’m so used to thinking about it that going for a walk in the forest via the Holodeck would cause little to no mental issues.
Of course I’d include a version of Dublin’s Trinity College Library as my reading room, accessible via turbolift - I'd just add in some bean bags and have Jeeves on hand with a supply of tea, that's my idea of heaven :-)

It's an amazing library (I visited it to see the Book of Kells and fell in bookish love with it - all those old books smell of heaven), but was blown away when Attack of the Clones ...er...cloned it as the Jedi Archives.
When I spent more time in virtual worlds, I never paid for my own, but would wander to different places based on mood (I also liked breaking into other people's homes but I had a whole spy thing going, it's a long story.)I like places that can simulate the real feeling of a place, so walking THROUGH a meadow or sitting IN a thunderstorm or floating ON a cloud or taking a train ride. Something active that isn't necessarily active in real life. And a central social place with repeat people I can chat to when I'm in the mood.
Dara wrote: "And I would definitely re-create my cats."I find that surprising, as that particular detail in the book briefly broke my suspension of disbelief. My darling Tilly (a cat) passed away last year, and the thought of trying to recreate her in VR is an upsetting one. A VR cat I could see being wonderful, but not an imitation of a beloved animal that has passed away. It would break my heart.
Since I can never make my mind up, I expect any VR world I created would be a mixed up clutter of all kinds of things I like or think are cool, old fashioned and ultra modern all blurred into one. It would be a total mess!
A ship like Space Ghost and Wonder Woman's with the rotating section of the Earth ship from Space 2001 to walk on with the sides of it like the Library of Congress's Reading Room; nooks all along it to duck in to for a perusal. With dogs and a 'Wilson' to keep me company.

I'm dead and they're dead so we're both simulations and it's not sad, haha.
I am in with the rotating wallpaper crowd. I would have a Trek like holodeck and rotate the scenery depending on mood.Hmm. although speaking of scenery, if I had to pick one, I wonder what the Playboy mansion grotto looks like...
I'd probably go for something like a villa in a forrest; enjoying the outdoors, but not necessarily camping.
Silvana wrote: "Rotating between The Nautilus, the Surprise or the Rocinante. I have a thing with ships."This got me thinking about my favorite ships, I hope you don't mind if I share:
Best Ship Name: The Silver Wings of Morning from House of Suns (to be frank the Silver Wings was so huge it could probably carry most other ships in its hold, but that feels a tad excessive)
Favourite Ship’s AI: Arthur from Legend of Orin (I don't care what the nay-sayers say, I love that movie, the fact that I watched it at age 7 may have something to do with it)
Coolest Looking Ship: The Mimbari Sharlin Cruiser from Babylon 5
Most Comfy Ship: The Enterprise from Star Trek TNG (it’s got a holodeck and can produce tea as if by magic, need I say more?)
So I guess my ideal would be a Sharlin Cruiser called Silver Wings, piloted by Arthur the AI and fitted out with a holodeck and an infinite supply of tea.
I don’t want much from life really...
@William, I wish I knew what you were referring to but TNG Enterprises did look nice. There would be VR within VR with its holodeck #VRception Who was the Bob who made his VR floating on top of peasants ? That was rather funny.
I'd like my VR to switch to represent the scene of whatever I'm reading/listening to for an immersive experience. Otherwise, a hammock in the shade on a hot sunny day is the best
Mine would generally be some kind of library (the appearance would change whenever), near a forest (probably not an Earth forest), overlooking a large body of water (probably not found on Earth), with sunrises and sunsets drawn from art, planetary exploration, and imagination. It also wouldn't take me very long to start exploring non-human avatars.

Mine would probably be a nice house on a secluded beach. Warm water. Cozy living room with a nice chair. Books all over the walls. And I would definitely re-create my cats.
What about you guys?
