Sorry if the title is fairly vague but from what I remember, this is a trilogy possibly 3+ series. I read it at least 5 years ago but could be more like 10 considering how vague my memory is. It's written in first person perspective, it starts with a boy at some sort of boarding school with no adults around and aliens land nearby, a small group of the kids go to investigate and i think some of them die. After that i remember the kids forming some kind of militia and try attacking but some of them including the protagonist get captured but he eventually escapes, the last thing I remember is that one of the kids who gets captured gets convinced/brainwashed to turn against the other kids. Don't really remember anything after that and have tried about 20 google searches haha hope someone remembers this, thanks!

No that's definitely not it cheers though, it's much more serious and is also a series of books not a single novel
No worries, I'll keep looking. Do you think it was an Australian series?
I reckon it definitely could have been, depends how long ago I read it cause I've been living in Australia for about 10 years but considering it was a fairly mature series and I remember a fair bit I'm guessing I read it not more than 10 years ago
