Would it be The Scar by Charlotte Moundlic? It is about a little boy whose mother dies when he is young and he is really scared he will forget about her so he does everything he can to remember her. He can't talk to his dad or grandma anymore because he is struggling with the death of his mother, but his grandma finds a way to ensure him that his mother's love is always near.
