Kristine | 284 comments Kirsten,
That sounds really interesting. I’ve read a bunch from different countries, but haven’t actively been trying to. You’ll probably learn a lot reading from all those countries.

It's certainly been an interesting experience, and thinking on it I have also expanded my knowledge about some world events. Our lives can have a very narrow focus if we only read authors from our home country.

message 3003: by Kristine (new)

Kristine | 284 comments Yes, think that is true. I’ve read from UK, Ireland, Australia, Tanzania, Germany, Mexico, Nigeria, Haiti, France, China, Japan, Korea, wow more then I thought. I do like to learn about different countries at different times, but the way you are doing it is great. I am reading Before We were Free, by Julia Alvarez, soon, that’s set in the Dominican Republic, and The Silence of the White City by Eva Garcia Saenz is translated from Spanish and located in Spain. My dad gave me that one, Said really good. Enjoy.

Véronique Goglu | 1 comments My year with Eleanor.
Inspired by the courage of Eleanor Roosevelt, the character (Noelle) decides to confront one fear a day for an entire year. It really is inspiring, especially for people living with anxiety! Since it is a memoir, I think readers can really relate to Noelle.

by Scott Anderson

I'm always surprised by books that are for my book club especially ones like this one as it would never be on my radar. Who knows, I might just like it as I did with Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard
which was amazing!!!
