I know this sounds terrible, but since I am within three weeks of my book being published, the only thing I manage to read/skim are cereal boxes at breakfast and portions of articles in my email. Usually I always have a book at bedside (or more than one), and I still do, but they'd be gathering dust if I didn't dust them off! A recommendation of a really really short page-turning read in one sitting book or novella is appreciated (fiction or non-fiction). Thanks!
Since March is "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" I am reading it again after several decades. Nothing has changed. I still love it!

U..."hey Ellen, how about Everything My Mother Taught Me by Alice Hoffman. It's a very short story. Good luck with your book drop!! 📚
I am reading Fried Green Tomatoes. I have always love this book since I was a teenager. I also love the movie.
The Wizard of Oz, ashamedly I'd never read it but am slowly reading all the childhood books I want to have a headstart on when we read them to our daughter to when she's old enough.
I'm reading Before the Coffee Gets Cold: Tales from the Café by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It's my 10th book of the year. I'm trying to read books by authors from different countries. This book is by a Japanese author. I've already read books by authors from Australia, Ireland, USA (2), UK, Spain, Italy, India and Zimbabwe. It's been a fascinating experience.
Band of Sisters, by Lauren Willig, like the book w/audio so far. Interesting women during WWI went over to France and make a big difference with the war effort.
I just finished Such a fun Age
, a previous Reese book club selection. I was less than impressed. Here’s a link to my three star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Lost Jewels by Kirsty Manning. One of the unexpected and surprising finds for me this year. I have to admit that I chose this book for its cover and had low expectations for the story, and I was oh so wrong! This is a work of fiction based on an actual cache of jewels, known as the Cheapside Hoard which were found buried in a Cheapside Cellar in 1912 London. If you love a bit of history, mystery, and a woman's tenacity, this story is for you!

Have just started The Golden Hour by Beatriz Williams. I am liking the writing so far. Not much has happened with the story itself but it's a hefty tome so it might be a while till I get there.
I'm currently reading The Absolute Book by New Zealand author Elizabeth Knox.I'm challenging myself to read books by different authors from around the world. So far I've read books by authors from Spain, Italy, UK, Ireland, India, Australia, USA (2), Zimbabwe, & Japan.
Kirsten, That sounds really interesting. I’ve read a bunch from different countries, but haven’t actively been trying to. You’ll probably learn a lot reading from all those countries.

It's certainly been an interesting experience, and thinking on it I have also expanded my knowledge about some world events. Our lives can have a very narrow focus if we only read authors from our home country.
Yes, think that is true. I’ve read from UK, Ireland, Australia, Tanzania, Germany, Mexico, Nigeria, Haiti, France, China, Japan, Korea, wow more then I thought. I do like to learn about different countries at different times, but the way you are doing it is great. I am reading Before We were Free, by Julia Alvarez, soon, that’s set in the Dominican Republic, and The Silence of the White City by Eva Garcia Saenz is translated from Spanish and located in Spain. My dad gave me that one, Said really good. Enjoy.
