Laura, yes, so far so good. The narrator for the audio version is making it quite compelling.

I agree. I am loving the details of the culture of India from the 1950s and I too, can picture the scenes she describes. I am midway through now and the book's got my complete attention!

If you like it and enjoy quirky characters, let me also suggest The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. That's the first of a trilogy of the same characters.

I was choosing between Eleanor and when the crawdads sing. I guess this tilts it

OH Vandana do NOT miss Where the Crawdads Sing though. It's breathtaking!

the writing is splendid. the language and imagery is so imaginative and beautiful. and it's a love story unlike any I have ever heard or read about. it started a little slow but I'm thinking I'm going to give it 4 stars when it's all said and done
