I loved The Splendid and the Vile! also, if you want to hear Eric Larson speak on that book, go to:

https://bookpassage.extendedsession.com and look in the archived interviews. Larson was so interesting. You may have to sign up to receive invitations to other authors but I believe you can just go into the archived ones to hear them speak.

dan lacey | 1 comments Just re-read the Best and the Brightest by David Halberstam. It covers the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and the men who were considered the best of their time like Robert McNamara. An incredibly compelling read that takes the reader through the events and lies that for us into Vietnam.

Just finished The Guest List. I liked it, but thought the ending was a little too contrived.

Judy (pacurn80) | 72 comments Olivia , you wanted to know my thoughts on The Good Neighborhood (I wasn’t sure how to post under your comment. I totally believe that happens in our world today. It was an incident that was taken from a time in someone’s life. Could of been mine because I was a single mom who raised a biracial son He also identified as African American and I was his white mom. I took racism from blacks and whites , but mostly whites. This was in the 1980’s in East Texas. My son suffered racism in school but he is now 38 years old and has become an incredible black man and I couldn’t be prouder !

I want to read that too. I recommend checking out
https://bookpassage.extendedsession.com/
where you can see Lisa See talk about this book in the archived files that were done this year. It is quite interesting to hear from the author's own viewpoint how she came to write the book.
