Just finished The Colour of Your Voice by Daniel Newwyn, and I really adored Violet's gradual shift from a girl with anxiety and lots of self-doubt to an independent woman who knows what she wants in her life. A really surprisingly good book from a new author :)
Ellen wrote: "I just started "The Giver of Stars" by Jo Jo Moyers. I did see several say it was a same story as other books, but am interested in reading this one, as we are in the middle of Covid 19 and my moth..."I read "The Giver of Stars" and also heard about books similar to this topic of the Packhorse Library though I have not read any of the other ones. The real program was started in the Depression by Eleanor Roosevelt. She felt it was important to bring literacy to all parts of the country so she established this program. "The Giver of Stars" is set in the hollers of Kentucky and run by some very plucky women who aren't afraid of the job nor the naysayers.
Laura wrote: "Ellen Spence I loved that book so much. It's a feel good all around." Thanks, Laura, it looks good. Started yesterday!
I've always wanted to read 1984!
While browsing the small book section at Target, I stumbled upon 1984 in the pocket book section for only $8 bucks. Also bought The Shining, The Haunting of Hill House, and Batman: The Killing Joke all for cheap.
I was reading Songs and Stories from Electric Mars by PanOrheus, and have many other books lined up, but 1984 has jumped to the front of the line. So I'm spending a lot of my quarantine juggling both books now while writing my second book.
Catching up on a lot of back reading, and finding all these books will help!
Just finished 300 Days of Sun by Deborah Lawrenson. Was a great way of being transported to Portugal and the sunshine during quarantine! Beautiful story!
Reading a romcom book called The Proposal. Not my usual genre but just thought it would be a fun book during this unfun time.
Mikel Jollett's memoir Hollywood Park. Really enjoying. It seems a kin to Tara Westover's memoir Educated, that is, dysfunctional off the grid family but the kid turns out okay despite the rough beginning.
The Diary of a Bookseller - Shaun Bythell Makes you realise how important it is to save the independent bookshops!!

Adriana wrote: "Reading Little fires everywhere and loving it so far..."The Hulu series is also really good so far for when you finish this one! :)
I am reading Little Women: The Original Classic Novel with Photos from the Major Motion Picture, I really enjoyed the movie so I decided to start reading the book. =)
I’m reading “The Power of Now” again - it’s been especially great for the world situation right now.
I have started re-reading a Danielle Steel novel called Loving. This is my second time reading it and I remember it being very good back in 1996!
I just finished Three Hours In Paris by Cara Black. I highly recommend this book. It is a page turner. Cara is an absolute expert on Paris and you feel like you are in the city experiencing the events firsthand.
A few things. Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Conceal Don't Feel by Jen Calonita, and Harry Potter #7.
Memory Man by David Baldacci
Just finished Hollywood Park by Mikel Jollett. Due out May 5th. Don't miss this one! #HollywoodParkMemoir #CeladonReadsStarting The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson.
