I’m reading The Queens of Crime by Marie Benedict. Just started it, but off to a bit of a slow and stale start. About Women Detective Writers, which seems so interesting, hope it will pick up.

Then I have the book and audio 🎧 of Lovely One: A Memoir by Ketanji Brown Jackson I really love the law. Justice Jackson is extremely intelligent and passionate about both interpreting the law and trying to find fairness for all. She goes into detail about cases that some might find tedious, but that is my favorite part. Glad she appears to always try to use integrity and honesty in her life and work. The book is a little too long. I have some mixed feelings about her need to always please at any cost, and both her husband and her barely have any down time. It makes me think a lot about what we expect of individuals and make it almost impossible to have work/family life balance.

I just finished a book, "Friend of the Devil" by Haymitch St Stephen that opened my heart to a greater level of compassion. A teenage drunk driver caused a car accident killing a pregnant mom and two of her children. A few days later the husband forgave publicly the teenage driver assisting him with his recovery. The story is touching and life changing. I highly recommend it for all...and maybe your teenage drivers!
