Kristine | 287 comments The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry , I am finishing this book and find it so interesting. 2 Sisters live in the country during the war, but the young one goes missing. They make up a Fairy Tale World. 20 years later, a book is published with this fantasy life, yet the older sister had never told anyone. I really am enjoying this, but don’t know where it’s going to lead. A mystery for sure.

I am also reading Trespasses by Louise Kennedy , by Louise Kennedy. I am trying to finish all the books nominated for the 2023 Women’s Prize for Fiction. This is a darker and more disturbing book. Cushla is Catholic and lives near Dublin. This takes place during The Troubles. Excellent so Far.

message 6849: by Aubrie (new)

Aubrie Elliot | 4 comments I am currently reading THE LANGUAGE OF KIN by Lynne Hugo. I am absolutely enthralled - I mean it - from the very first paragraph. It's not even a book I would normally pick up, but Lynne is an award-winning author from an Indie press and I got a free advance copy, so I started reading.

It starts with the capture (described so well that I was in tears) of baby chimpanzees - then focuses on one, "Eve" who makes her way to a zoo - saved from a life of being used from medical experiments.

I am not that far in, but I just had to say something. Seldom am I so engaged from the very first page.

Wow.
