SOLVED. A Fictional/Fantasy book about a young hunter's revenge for his destroyed village. [s]

hello everyone, This is a book i very briefly read and was read about 13 years ago

ill start with the cover of the book, i only remember the book cover being gold and maybe the cover had a circle with lines going through it like a shell?

I remember the book opening up with a boy who lived in a village in the middle of a forest and went out hunting one day, and on the way back to his village he noticed smoke and found the village has been pillaged by evil forces.

He pursues/tracks the dark army to what i dont know was either in my book or a false memory but i remember a castle of sorts and a floor that let the army through but only after a certain instrument was played, the main character couldn't pass this magical/musical floor and had to find another way across

unfortunately that is as far into the book as i got, but for at least 13 years the image of the book cover has been burnt into my mind and i have always wondered what happend

I did see that in my search on google but dismissed it because the cover looked nothing like i remembered, but after this coincidence of a suggestion i looked up the plot and you are exactly right!! I obviously mixed some books up in my memory but as soon as i read the summary i knew this was the book!

I think my memory was mixing 2 books up to be honest, i have no memory of any of the covers i have seen but im 110% certain this is the book im looking for
