If you are thinking this is yet another tedious Dystopian story think again!
A series of devastating attacks on London, spreading to the rest of the UK. A hacker group with the terrifying ability to do whatever they want. Plunder bank accounts, close down retails stores across London and shut down every petrol station in the country. Police forces and security forces brought to their knees. A race against time to stop a virus from spreading to the population.
When a series of devastating terror attacks rocks the nation’s capital, a beleaguered government struggles to cope under pressure to restore order. As key systems are hacked and shut down, violence begins to erupt across the country.
In a bid to stop a terror group known as Dystopia, Detective Sergeant Samantha Drake is engaged in a deadly race against time. With the help of a computer hacker, Sam travels the length of the country to track down the terror group. Pursued by ruthless and vicious gunmen Sam must do everything in her power to stay alive and stop Dystopia from releasing a sophisticated virus infecting the population.
For journalist Alan Manning of the London Evening Examiner, his journey is just beginning. As he pieces together the evidence, he discovers the terrifying truth behind the attacks. An advanced microchip with the ability to control a person. A top-secret project stretching back nearly fifty years. A mysterious stranger with knowledge of Alan’s family legacy.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Tessa Mayflower is engaged in a desperate bid to keep the country calm. Surrounded by enemies on all fronts she must deal with the latest threats and political backstabbers in her own government.
Dystopia is a fast-paced action thriller set in present day over a seventy-two period. Told from several different angles, Government, a police detective, a journalist, a radio show host and the news media.
Ok down to business. My name is Jason Chapman I’m a UK based writer and I have been kicking around Goodreads a few years now. I will admit I haven’t been as active as I should be. I have an amazon page and have been actively indecently publishing since 2012. I have published five books on Amazon, most recently Dystopia, a somewhat dark political thriller/scifi thriller/detective story and a whole lot of other stuff.
Dystopia is set several months into the future (depending on when you are reading this post which was published on 8th April 2018) It crosses a number of different genres, political thriller, techno-thriller, police thriller, action and adventure, science fiction thriller and a conspiracy thriller. The story follows three main characters, a police detective, a journalist, and a Prime Minister called Tessa Mayflower, yes that is what I said. After series of terror related incidents across London and other parts of the UK a group called Dystopia claim responsibility. Not only this, but their next stage of attacks are in cyber form. They target the wealthy, everyone from major football players to high profile criminals, along with the banking system. The book not only follows three main characters but it also tells the story from the angle of the news media. An idea I had when I first started to write the story.
Is there a hidden message somewhere?
Yes, there is I suppose, but it’s unintentional. Dystopia is in fact a modern day tie in with a trilogy of books I have written which are set in the 1950s. In many ways Dystopia is a warning of where society is heading and our reliance on technology as well as the widening gap between rich and poor.
I published the book last week on April 3rd. What I didn’t expect was a five star review within 24 hours of the book being published. I must have struck a chord with someone.
