Kathryn | 3569 comments Hi all Brisbaneite Aussie Readers!

We are getting together on Saturday, June 2nd at a venue yet to be decided, but it will be somewhere in the CBD/Southbank area.

Post here, if you'd like to come along, and I'll keep you updated! Location will be sent to everyone individually.

And we always have fun with the mystery book swap, so we'll do it again.

Mystery Book Swap

1. Bring along one book to the venue to give away – preferably a new book or a book in excellent condition.

2. Wrap the book in whatever paper you have at home.

3. Place a tag on the wrapping with the description of the genre.

4. Each participant's name will be placed in a hat, and when your name is drawn, you can select a mystery book from the pile.

Also feel free to list any books below that you are wanting to find a new home for to see if anyone else would like to take them off your hands!

Definites:
Lynne
Kerri
Deborah
Kathryn

EDIT: the date has been changed to June 2nd.

Transferred to the Just for Fun folder Kathryn 😊 Have a good get together.

message 3: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments It's my wedding anniversary that weekend, so I probably won't be able to make it. The two previous weekends are out too.

message 4: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Maybe we can shuffle it to a weekend you can be there Lynne. I was hoping to give you that brilliant book Tower of Thorns (Blackthorn & Grim, #2) by Juliet Marillier by Juliet Marillier that I got from you last time.

message 5: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments Cool! That would be great. You enjoyed it, then?

message 6: by Kathryn (last edited Apr 09, 2018 04:37PM) (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Yes, I thought we might change it to the Saturday after and see how that works for people.

ETA: I’ve now changed the date in the initial post.

message 7: by Kerri (new)

Kerri | 375 comments I should be able to make it too. I have a few books I need to find a new home so will list them soon.

message 8: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I loved it Lynn! I realised I had read another of hers ages ago, but then has somehow forgotten about her. So it was great to be reminded.

The 19th suits me, I have written it into the diary!

message 9: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments I'll note it down too. Shall we go back to the State Library cafe or try somewhere else?

message 10: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments I’ll let everyone know where we’re going by private message closer to the date, Lynne.

message 11: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments Okay. :-)

message 12: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I am happy with the state library, but I don't know too many other cafes in that area.

message 13: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments I've just realised that I can't make next Saturday!! But I also can't make it the Saturday after, so the 3 of you may as well still meet on the 19th, if you're keen, Lynne, Deborah and Kerri...

message 14: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments I'm happy to still go but would it be better to put it off for another couple of weeks?

message 15: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Yes, we can wait for a while; Saturday 2nd of June suit?

message 16: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments I can do 2nd June.

message 17: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Yes, I can do 2nd of June too. I’ll check with Kerri...

message 18: by Kerri (new)

Kerri | 375 comments 2nd of June works for me too

message 19: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments So we're good to change it?

message 20: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Lynne wrote: "So we're good to change it?"

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments Fantastic. :-)

message 22: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Excellent!
I just finished a great book that I would love to loan around ; If Kisses Cured Cancer - I can't make it a giveaway because it is autographed to me, but if anyone would like to borrow, let me know.

message 23: by Kerri (last edited May 20, 2018 06:17PM) (new)

Kerri | 375 comments I like the sound of that Deborah, if no-one else minds I'd like to borrow it. If anyone is interested in any of these books let me know:
Little Gods
London Rules
Before I Let You Go
The Sisters' Song
Papillon
The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy

message 24: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments We still on for today, ladies?

message 25: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Absolutely! I’m heading in now to have a wander around beforehand. See you about 11.30ish :-)

message 26: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Guys! I am so sorry - we moved things around so I could go and everything! I am in the process of selling y place and I have a last moment, house painting related, crisis and I have to be home until about 14:00.

So sorry!

message 27: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Oh what a shame, Deborah!! Maybe next time, although you’ll be down the coast then, so might be a bit far to come just for lunch...
Hope your painting crisis is easily resolved!!

Have a wonderful time everyone :)

message 29: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments We had a lot of fun. And even though there were only three of us, I came home with five new books!

Wow! Good for you Lynne :) Glad you had a lovely time.

message 31: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments We did have a great lunch while chatting about lots of different books!

I came home with Yesterday by Felicia Yap - my mystery book draw, and Into the Night by Sarah Bailey courtesy of Kerri trying to get rid of some books!! I read the first book - The Dark Lake earlier this year and really enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to this one! Also like the sound of Yesterday - a little different from my usual fare, but it sounds intriguing!

message 32: by Kerri (new)

Kerri | 375 comments Its always nice to catch up and chat about books over a nice lunch. I'm looking forward to reading my new book Turtles All the Way Down
