The Mute Master knew of Ansel's deceptions all along. Does his reasoning with regard to not stopping her make sense to you?

I understand not stopping her immediately to give her a chance to tell it herself. But I would have expected him to have taken action by now.And/or I would have expected him to be more cautious and don’t understand why she was doing the negotiations except maybe to win Berick with her beauty.
I also thought he let it play out for too long. Both he and his son could have been killed and others were killed.
Although he knew of her deception, do you think he thought she would go this far? I agree that he should have been more cautious and maybe had someone keep an eye on her.
I thought he waited too long and left himself vulnerable in the meantime. And, why in the world did he let her be the go-between for him and Lord Berich???!!
