Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Did Celaena do the right thing in sparing Ansel's life? Does it make sense given her vocation as an assassin?

message 2: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 83 comments As an assassin she will get jobs that require her to kill people. But now it wasn’t a job and I think she did the right thing, because they were friends it would have weighed on her if she had killed Ansel.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I agree that it would have weighed on her but this (along with some of her other actions in the other stories) make me question whether she is really cut out to being an assassin.

message 4: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 83 comments I agree on that, especially since we haven’t really seen her in action as an assassin.

Melissa (melissasd) | 194 comments I think she did. Like Lieke said, it would have weighed on her if she had killed her. I think she was hoping to give Ansel a second chance. I also believe that she won't give her a 3rd chance though.

Agreed, but I definitely think this is not the last we've seen of Ansel.

We now have two Assassin styles and I think Celaena is in between the two right now. It’s one thing to carry out an assignment, another to consider taking a life in a combat situation. I was proud that Celaena was evolving and developing empathy, thinking strategically. I think she let Ansel go because she saw a bit of her own destiny in her. There was a part of me that wanted that arrow to hit its mark but I was glad when it missed.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t see Ansel again.

Me too!
On the one hand, I wanted her to be punished for her actions, especially because her treachery led to the deaths of innocent people, but on the other, I didn't want Celaena to have the death of a girl she thought of as a friend on her conscience.

I also don't think we've seen the last of Ansel.
