Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. Read it last year and remember it being fairly good.http://www.amazon.com/Ashes-First-Boo...
I'd also recommend the Stitch series (Bone Blade Girl) and Kaiju Queen by A.D. Bloom. Nor horror or scary, but so completely bizarre that you can't help but read on. Complete suspension of reality involved with most of A.D. Bloom's stuff.

It's a prequel of sorts to Stitch: Bone Blade Girl series. I can't seem to find them on his author's page which is unfortunate as I highly recommend them.
I hadn't realized that Ashes was back up in price as I tend to suggest books that are a bit lower in price.
