I think this was part of a series of books, maybe like the second or third. The h and H have a past but aren’t together anymore. The H is a cop and searching for a serial killer or something. The h witnesses the serial killer kill someone outside the bar she works at. The H shows up and they are reunited and then things escalate from there.
