Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments Still waiting for one to come back. One came back after I even stopped looking for it.

I've so few of them they're engraved on my heart!
If one went lost I've leave the others and go out and fetch it back over my shoulders!
I suspect I'm too insignificant for them to notice to be honest

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments I tried following the advice at the link, Jim, but I have no apps. I hope this means they don't know each other exists.

Nothing shows up under Settings, and no Apps tab.

Thank you for sharing about this, pretty shocking!

I had trouble with this, so it may be the same for you. I clicked account settings, and then at the top of the page I had the option to edit my author page OR my user profile, Apps were under user profile.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments I tried editing book and author pages; didn't know user was different.

Will go try. Thanks.

THAT WORKED! I knew somewhere in the back of my mind that 'user' and 'author' are different, and a book page is something else entirely, but it hadn't really clicked.

APPS is on the USER profile. Thank you!

PS I had never connected anything to my GR account, so didn't have to disconnect anything. But that Login with FB is ubiquitous. And iniquitous.

Glad it worked, it had me flummoxed too!
It's quite alarming how sneaky all this is. I don't remember ever connecting things up, but apparently I did.

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments I do have a GR connection to FB on my FB author page. I wonder if this will make a difference when I next get around to publishing? Presumably Amazon is capable of linking the dots in this case as well.

And could it be that Amazon objects to reviews by 'friends' as you may become desperate enough to spend money on their own advertising schemes? Nefarious, what?

It really will be a cold day in Hell before I do that!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments I'd happily share profits with Amazon. Unfortunately, for my kind of mainstream writing, the ads haven't really worked, so - no profits to share!

Tim | 8539 comments I've sold 3 books so far this year! Profits? What are they?

message 14: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Job and Methuselah spring to mind...

Three more than me, Tim!

Ask Jeff Bezos.
He knows.

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Wooo! thanks for this thread Jim. I didn't think anything was linked, and FB and Twitter weren't but amazingly Amazon was! Well not anymore, disconnected that pronto. How on earth did that happen?????!!!! I have never imported my book purchases from Amazon into Goodreads as I didn't want anything linked so that was really sneaky.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments And this explains why my last book (not the one I've just published) seemingly miraculously appeared on Goodreads. Clever, supportive people, I thought.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments I'm naive for a few minutes and feel pleased - then the brow furrows, eyes narrow and I sigh. Pros and cons.
