SOLVED. Weird Mystery/Science fiction story--British. Spoiler ahead. [s]

Looking for the title of a mystery/science fiction story: Plot, British guy (life sort of wasting out for him) attends trade shows for clients and he writes reports. The story becomes a mystery about the weird relationship of the strange repeating hotel art and the way the universe is structured.

Spoiler: Romance with another trade show attender stuck in a temporal loop in a never ending hotel...

Sounds a bit like “The Wrong Room” by R.L. Stine, in Twilight Zone: 19 Original Stories on the 50th Anniversary.

I do not remember anything about the author. My recollection is that he wrote like a male. But I'm not sure. The book had lot's of British idioms and dry humor.
