Ashleen O'Gaea I am not sure this is the version I have, but .... I am slowly making my way through it, and - surprise! - enjoying it. Once you get past the Victorian language and complex sentence structure, his books/stories are fun to read. His social commentary is occasionally *scathing* and some bits have had me laughing aloud at the intentional humor.

Yes, he's most famous for the "dark and stormy night" thing, and we make fun of him for that - but he was enormously popular in his day, and if you can manage the length of some of his sentences, IMO he's worth reading.
