This book is a bit old, but it should still be a great introduction to the topic. I read it about 30 years ago.
Not yet completed reading it.
Very well written book, however it is outdated. I'll try lo read something more recent, like https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Gleick seems to stick more to the history and biography, and steers clear of the mathematics.
